IntheeditorialofAugust2013,RBRcelebratedthepublication ofthefirstimpactfactor(IF)of0.864,measuredbytheJournal ofCitationReports(JCR),rankingRBRamongthe12national indexedjournals.Atthetime,wedefinedasourmaingoalto reachanIFfigureof1.0.In2014wealmostgotthere,withthe markof0.993,andthisoutcomecorroboratedthefeasibilityof ourgoalandsignaledthatwewererightontrack.Ourfocus wasmaintained,andthisyearwecanproudlyannouncethat ourdedicationovertheyearsofexistenceofRBRhasovercome anotherhistoricallevel–inthelastissueoftheJCRourIFwas 1,087.Wearenowamongthe10nationalmagazinesofgreater impact,rankingamong24internationalpublicationsinthe areaandwearethefirstintherheumatologysubjectinLatin America.
‘Arewepleased?Ofcoursenot! Despiteallthissuccess, weknowthatthereisalottobedoneyet.Therefore,weare fosteringaseriesofchangesinvolvingtheprofessionalization ofourwork,withareclassificationofsubmittedmanuscripts, agreaternumberofreviewers,and agreater controlofthe review flow – measures already resulting in a significant reductioninour reviewdeadlinesand inthefinaldecision on submitted manuscripts. Wehave also established even
stronger requirements for the acceptance of manuscripts; withthisstrategy,weaimtoincreasethe scientificlevelof ourjournal,accordingtoits profileand newlevelof excel-lence.WeintendnotonlytoachieveahigherIF,butinthe nearfuture,weintendalsotoconsolidateinternationallyRBR amongthemainrheumatologicpublications.Wealsoplanned other changeswiththe helpofseveral collaboratorslinked totheeditorialstaff.Suchchangeswilltakeplacegradually, withthegoalofimprovingthequalityanddisseminationof RBR,andalsoaimingtoexpandtheexperienceofauthorsand readers.Werelyoneveryone’shelp.
