E p s t e i n s a y s that w h e n G o d p u n i s h e s a s i n n e r he d o e s not do it o u t of a n g e r , but r a t h e r o u t of love. G o l d b e r g a n d R a y n e r s a y t h a t J e w i s h b e l i e f h a s to be e x t r a p o l a t e d f r o m a l l its w r i t i n g s w h i c h h a v e b e e n p r o d u c e d t h r o u g h o u t th e c e n t u r i e s <JJ, p. 2 6 5 / 6 ) . So, J u d a i s m s t a t e s t h a t e v e r y t h i n g h a p p e n i n g in th e w o r l d w a s p r e v i o u s l y e s t a b l i s h e d . In t h i s way, m a n w o u l d be j u s t f o l l o w i n g t h e s t e p s o f a p r e - e s t a b l i s h e d p l a n w h i c h ha c a n n o t a l t e r at all.
