RESOLUTION

CD16.R28

ERADICATION OF AEDES AEGYPTI IN ARGENTINA

THE 16th DIRECTING COUNCIL,

Considering the final report on the eradication of Aedes aegypti presented by Argentina, which

declared that the country is free of the mosquito and that the standards and criteria for eradication

established by the Pan American Sanitary Bureau have been met; and

Bearing in mind that a special confirmatory verification was carried out with the participation of

officials of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau,

RESOLVES

1.To accept the report presented by Argentina, to congratulate that country on the work

accomplished, and to declare its territory free of Aedes aegypti.

2.To urge the Governments of countries and areas still infested by Aedes aegypti to give the highest

priority to the provision of the funds, personnel, and supplies needed for the completion of their

eradication campaigns.

3.To recommend to the Governments of countries and areas from which the vector has been

4.To urge the Director to adopt appropriate measures to intensify and accelerate Aedes aegypti

eradication campaigns so that the goal of eradication in the Americas can be achieved as soon as

possible.
