PROPOSED RESOLUTION PRESENTED BY THE REPRESENTATIVE OF EL SALVADOR
The Directing Council,
Considering'that paragraph 1 of Resolution III
ap-proved by the Council at its VII Meeting sets forth guiding
principles and methods suitable for the development of a
plan of long-range public health programs;
Bearing in mind Resolution I of the XIII Pan American
Sanitary Conference, which requires the Pan American Sanitary
Bureau to consider itself responsible only for those programs
or recommendations that are supported by budgetary funds; and
In compliance with the recommendation approved in
Re-solution X of the VIII World Health Assembly,
RESOLVES:
1. To reaffirm the principles and methods approved
in Resolution III, paragraph 1, of the VII Fleeting of the
Directing Council with respect to the plan of long-range

2. To recommended to the Member Countries that have
not yet done so, that during the year 1956, if possible, they
prepare national work plans on public health for the period
1957 - 1960.
3. To recommend to the Director of the Pan American
Sanitary Bureau that he prepare, in consultation with the
governments and in accordance with the plans they have drawn
up, the proposed annual programs and budgets for the period
