INTRODUÇÃO

The mission of BOPE is to develop special operations of military police that would be all operation executed by BOPE, in the fi elds of the public defense, internal and territorial, characterized by the development of actions, with specifi c objective, to do front to occurrences that are located over the capacity of action of the Operational Units of PMERJ, demanding the job of the armed troop, equipped and especially trained. As example has: Capture of criminals, strongly armed and entrenched, support to the military policemen operations in slums in combat against organized gangs, very well positioned and strongly armed, executions of missions in the fi eld of the urban (guerrilla’s) and/or rural counter-guerrilla. The course of Special operations is nationally and internationally recognized, for all of public safety organs, as being one of the courses of larger responsibility in level of Commands, capable to make possible their conclusive offi cials, execution and planning of special missions that come to demand high technical, tactical and psychological preparations, tends in view the performance designed for the actions in the public safety’s Field. Inside of that context, urges to know more deeply this military activity, in their several aspects, as for instance the presuppositions and the physical demands of the members of BOPE, for several angles, of functional to genetic. To identify the profi le is to observe the own motive conduct of BOPE. The present study refers to the search of the identifi cation of the characteristics, and of the somatotypical aspects, of the physical qualities, and, especially to the dermato-glyphical characteristics of the members of BOPE of PMERJ.

LITERATURE REVISION

The BOPE’s Mission

The mission of BOPE is to develop special operations of military police that would be all operation executed in the fi elds of the Public Defense, internal or territorial, characterizing for the develo-pment of actions, as specifi c objective, to do front to occurrences that are located over the capacity of action of the Operational Units of PMERJ, demanding the job of the armed troop, equipped and specially trained. As example has: Capture of criminals, strongly armed and entrenched; Support to the operations of the military policemen in slums in that organized gangs are positioned and strongly armed; execution of missions in the fi eld of the urban and/or rural counter-guerrilla.

Dermatoglifi a and the Basic Physical Qualities

According to Santos1 about the dermatoglyphics, is considered

that the fi ngerprints (FP) are universal genetic marks, that allow a wide possibility of diagnoses in the areas of the pathology, of the ethnography, of the sports and of the professions that act in risk situations, under dependence or demand, close to the maximum of their physical capacities.

According to Fernandes Filho2, the fi ngerprints represent universal

genetic marks that open doors for more necessary diagnoses and that also demonstrative signs of talents besides they could represent certain ethnic and population loads.

In agreement with3, to a correlation between the total asymmetry

of signs of the fi ngerprints at general level of the physical potential and of the basic physical qualities.

Nikitchuk et al.4, researched an outline of beginnings of

asso-ciation of ID’s with the physical qualities: speed and explosive force (increase of the fasteners (L) (> 7), decrease of the whorl (L < 3), presence and the increase of the arches and reduction of SQTL. The aerobic capacity, the resistance and the activities of complex motive combination decrease of the arches (up to 0)

and of fastener (< 6), the increase of the whorl (> 4) and the increase of SQTL.

In agreement with Fernandes Filho2 the aerobic capacity, the

resistance and the activities of complex motive combinations are predominant, when the a decrease of the arches (up to 0) and of fastener (< 6), and the increase of the verticilos (> 4) and of SQTL.

Abramova et al.5 composed the classifi cation of the Fingerprints

with base in the analyses, correlative and factorial, of the mul-tidimensional autoclassifi cation of indexes of the digital derma-toglyphic and of more than 80 indexes of the 101 academic rowers’ of high functional qualifi cation possibilities (PICTURE 01). This is constituted of 5 main categories that stand out for the different dominant functional; it can be verifi ed for instance that the lowers of drawings intensity (D10) and the low sum of the total amount of lines (SQTL) are correlated with high level of strength and potency manifestations. However, when it is treated, the low level of coordination and resistance happens the opposite: the elevation of the level of (D10) and (SQTL) are correlated with the resistance and the coordination. The maximum values, of (D10) and of (SQTL) refers to the individuals’ coordination.

Somatotype as Performance Parameter

Santos1 describes that is important to recognize that the

soma-totype describes the physical form in general, gives us necessary answer for questions related with the specifi c conditions of the body. Recent studies demonstrated the importance of the soma-totype in the performance and has as objective to map and to study the changes in the genders and ages. Carter6 considers that

the somatotype is a selection factor and sporting performance, because the champions show a similarity regarding the body size and somatotype. The anthropometric somatotype is one of the techniques that can be used to establish an individual’s structure in order to relate it with his performance, establishing of way the association-function structures Santos1.

The Physical Qualities

According to Tubino7, the identifi cation of the physical qualities

of the sport in training and the adaptation of those valences to the formulated objectives is the fundamental step for the success of a physical preparation. It is known that even in the phase of planning of the pre-preparatory period of the training, it would be

impossible an adaptation to the programs of physical preparation, without the previous recognition of the physical qualities to be stamped. According to Santos1, the physical qualities are intimately

linked to the objectives of a specifi c training and in its success. The physical activity at high levels, with the military training, it is known by demanding a high degree of physical performance.

According to Rosendal et al.8 the exact relationship between the

physical fi tness level is the infl uence of the aerobic training, can generates earnings in the improvement of the aerobic capacity. Rosendal et al.8 reported an increase in the aerobic capacity from

8 to 16% in the oxygen reception, in the acting of military during the obstacles jumping acting, both with backpacks with 15Kg load. Still the author, the military basic training has a positive effect in the capacity of intermittent resistance.

The members of Bope were submitted to the test of optical-motor reaction (ruler test), to verify the reaction time, since they need to have a good optical-motor reaction. Studies demonstrate that the interruption of the sleep causes decrease of the refl ex and in the sensibility of the vision. An important investigative, since the members of Bope sometimes need to be awake during the dawn, in some incursions to slums in the confrontation with drug-dealers. According Quant9 after 48 hours with an interruption of the sleep,

there is a reduction in the contrast of the ocular sensibility. The sleep privation and the continue exposition to the stress affect the good aim, a task that requests a good motive coordination and fi rmness10 .

METHODOLOGY

Method and Study Type

It is treated of a descriptive research, that will use a typology profi le.

Sample

The sample group was randomly selected members of BOPE, of the year of 2005, composed by soldiers, corporal, sergeants and offi cials, that was in the active and that present good physical health is as demand for the accomplishment of the physical efforts for the data collection of the present study.

Used protocols

Were used the protocols, somatotype of Heath & Carter11; the

dermatoglyphic, of Cummins and Midlo12; test of (Shuttle Run)

Aahperd13, for agility; (Test of Burpee) Johnson and Nelsom14, for

coordination; (Test of 12 minutes Jogging), Cooper15; to calculate

Vo2max; (Test of Abdominal Flexing by sitting down action for 60

seconds), Pollock 15, to evaluate located muscular resistance; (test

of optical-motor reaction), Dantas 17 to measure reaction speed

of superior limbs.

3.4. Statistical treatment

The descriptive statistics was used, in the sense of characterizing the display the one that was researched. Were used the size of the sample, mean, standard deviation, maximum and minimum and percentile values for the A, L and W drawings. As the ob-jective of visually identifying the policemen’s of BOPE profi le, investigated and consequently to understand in a more necessary way the particularities of the studied profi le. In the process were demonstrated in the tables the mean, standard deviation of the display and the maximum, minimum and percentile values for the drawings a, L and W.

RESULTS PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION

Average for the general values of age, weight and structure

The following descriptive values were observed for the anthropo-metric variables in the TABLE I. In this it can be observed that the mean of the age was of 30.77 ± 3.09 years, the mean of body mass was of 75.83 ± 9.00 Kg and the structure mean was of 174.00 ± 5.10 cm.

Average of the general values for SQTL and D10

The means of the general values of the SQTL and D10 values will be presented in the Table II. The mean of the sum of the total amount of lines (SQTL), was of 111.39 ± 51.05; the mean of the index delta (D10), was of 10.31 ± 3.26. Through the FP’s classifi cation of Abramova et al.5, of the classifi cation,

somato-functional, D10 is framed in the CLASS III, where we have levels of relative strength, and SQTL, is framed in the CLASS III, where it proves the stature index and absolute strength.

On SQTL, the means of 111.39 lines found, can conclude the importance of the strength level for the special police activities

here investigated. Where can compares with the military studies in Parachutists of Santos1 and Jet Pilots of Sampaio18.

Mean of the values in percentile for the draw-ings types

The general values for the drawings types, A, L, W were worked in percentile and will be presented in the table III. In this table it can be verifi ed that the percentile for (A), was of 17.4%; (L), 62.1% and (W), it was of 20.4%.

The study in subject, this framed in the CLASS III, of the classifi -cation, somato-functional of Abramova5. On the drawing type,

it is fi rstly verifi ed the low arch percentile (A), that is outstanding characteristic of the high sport performance in any modality and mainly in those in which are necessary high resistance and motive coordination levels, as the case of the military activity, in special the BOPE. In relation to D10 and SQTL, the resistance and strength sports related with low values of D10 and SQTL, the resistance sports to medium value and the modalities that need complex coordination to high value. According to Abramova et al (5), the enlargement of the activity fi eld of the game, in other

words, the diffi culty in accomplishing motive activities during the sport practice links with the complexity of the digital drawings and with the increase of D10. In which the result D10 found was D10 = 10.31 in a comparison with other such military studies as offi cial parachutists Santos1, D10 = 12.00 Jet pilots Sampaio18,

D10 = 13.10 and helicopter pilots of Di Gesu19, D10 = 11.20,

equality found in the comparison of the three studies, it can be concluded the importance of the strength and coordination levels for the military activities here investigated. That is corroborated in the Military activity of BOPE, having in view this as own used urban guerrilla tactics, exactly with the own use of these tactics in diffi cult situations and the displacement in lands acclivities and accident victims of urban combat. The verifi ed dermatoglyphics profi le of the military of BOPE is framed in the CLASS III, for D10 and in the CLASS III, for SQTL of the classifi cation of Dermatoglyphical and Somato-functional indexes Abramova et al.5. The CLASS III

is characterized by the largest importance in what refers to the strength and the CLASS III is characterized by the elevation of SQTL and D10 and symptomatic in sport of complex proprioception and of larger motive complexity. Where it can frames the activities of BOPE, in the movements complexity for the accomplishment of the occupation of slums the displacement in uneven lands, even criminals’ capture in the area of urban combat.

Means of the general values of the somatotype components

The means of the general values of the components of the en-domorphia, mesomorphia and ectomorphia somatotypes are

presented in the TABLE III. In this it can be observed that the endomorphia was 3.24 ± 1.26; the mesomorphia was of 5.91 ± 1.08; and the ectomorphia was of 1.72 ± 1.09. Characterizes the display as being Meso-endomorphic.

As the table IV, it is ended that for the policemen of BOPE the predominant characteristics for his military activity is the meso-morphia, since the characteristic of the ectomorphia should not be very predominant, because the policemen should have a low mean stature, to better containment of his body during the combat in alleys and streets of the slums. In relation to the endomorphia characteristic, the found result was relatively low, that was waited, due to the high load of physical training in which the policemen are submitted. This is important since the fat implicates in the reduction of the physical performance. In agreement with, Jette M et al.20, evaluated the effects of fat excess in the body during

the motor performance, medium and strong, fi nding a reduction in the psychomotor performance. The mesomorphia characteristic of BOPE was of 5.9, the higher value found in relation to the studies of Offi cials parachutists of Santos1 that was of 4.5, soldier

parachutists of Santos21 3.6 and the helicopters pilots of Di Gesu 19 study, 3.8 mesomorphia. This demonstrates the high load of

physical exercises which the members of Bope are submitted. In relation to the endomorphia and ectomorphia characteristics the found result of the present study maintained in the mean in comparison with the mentioned studies.

Mean of the general values for the Physical Qualities

The literature shows the importance of determining the basic physical qualities for each sport activity, reaching the best physi-cal income. The values of the tests of aerobic resistance, located muscular resistance, agility, coordination and reaction speed are presented in the Table V.

According to the table V, the result found for the maximum oxygen consumption was of 55.13 ml.Kg-1.min-1. The study of Fetterman22,

obtained a VO2max of 53.10 ml.Kg

-1.min-1 in which is treated only

of Bope soldiers, they obtained the result of VO2max, even since they order a constant program and strong physical training, in what refer for Bope activity.

In the test of abdominal, in a comparison of Soldiers Parachutists’ results, Santos (21) 55 rept. abdominal and Offi cials Parachutists,

Santos1 54 rept. abdominal, in relation to the present study that

was of 60 rept. abdominal, there was a signifi cant difference between the studies. The obtained result are considerably high, since the abdominal is daily part of the activities of the Bope members.

In the test of Coordination in 10 seconds (Burpee), the study, of Parachutists of Santos 21, in which the soldiers obtained 3.82 and

the one of offi cial Parachutists of Santos1 reached the result of

5.80 repetitions in 10 seconds, the present study obtained a result of 4.78 repetitions in 10 seconds. The found result demonstrates the good coordination levels that are the members of Bope. In the agility test (Shuttle-Run), In a comparison with the military parachutists the soldiers’ of Santos21 studies obtained a result of

11.09 seconds, the one of Offi cials parachutists of Santos1, ob-Table IV: Mean of the general values of the somatotype

tained a result of 11.20 seconds, in comparison with the present study that obtained a result of 11.33 seconds, was proven a good physical agility in relation to the mentioned studies.

In the reaction speed test or time of optical-manual reaction, the members of the BOPE obtained a result of 0.36 hundredth second, in comparison with Machado’s study23, accomplished in students

of the children teaching the obtained result was of 0.61 hundredth second, the members of Bope stayed with superior result, but we cannot give so much importance because they are adolescents.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Conclusions

To the end of this study we could obtain the characteristics of the policemen that integrate the elite troop of PMERJ, BOPE, of the year of 2005. Like this, with these data we can at least to draw the dermatoglyphical, somatptypical and the physical qualities profi les. The determination of the indexes of FP acted by the sum of the total amount of lines (SQTL), for the Delta index (D10) and for (A), (L) and (W) values, constitute in the information of the mili-tary activity of BOPE. In the identifi cation of the dermatoglyphical profi le, the values were verifi ed of (SQTL), that was of 111.39 ± 51.05; of (D10), was of 10.31 ± 3.26; the (A), was of 17.4%; of (L), 62.1%; (W), was of 20.4%; According to Abramova et al.

5, enlargement of the fi eld of game activity, in other words, the

diffi culty in accomplishing motive activities during the sport practice links with the complexity of the digital drawings and with the incre-ase of D10. That is corroborated in the military activity of BOPE, knowing that this activity are characterized by the simultaneous accomplishment of physical and mental activity such as combat in uneven lands using urban tactics of guerrillas, displacement for long distances with the transport of great amount of combat and survival material, besides the great emotional stress provoked by situations that involve high life risk. The verifi ed dermatoglyphical profi le of the BOPE, is framed in the class III, for D10 and in the class III, for SQTL of the index somato-functional dermatoglyphi-cal classifi cation Abramova et al. 5. The class III is characterized

by the largest importance in what refers to the strength and the class III are characterized by the elevation of SQTL and D10 and symptomatic in sports of complex proprioception and of larger motive complexity. On the drawing type, it was fi rstly verifi ed the low percentile found in the Arch (A), that is an outstanding cha-racteristic of the high sport income in any modality and mainly in those in which are high necessary resistance and coordination levels, as the case of military activity, in specifi c the one of BOPE. In the identifi cation of the somatotypical profi le, suits to tell the defi nition of Massa 24, the somatotype and the quantifi cation of the

form and the current composition of the human body. The investi-gated display obtained values for the somatotype of endomorphia was 3.24 ± 1.26; the mesomorphia was of 5.91 ± 1.08; and the ectomorphia was of 1.72 ± 1.09. It characterizes the display as being Meso-endomorphic. It is ended that for the policemen of BOPE the predominant characteristics for his military activity is the mesomorphia, as it was found, since the characteristic of the ectomorphia should not be very predominant, because the policemen should have a low mean stature, for best to group his body during the combat between alleys and streets of the slums. Having made analysis of these results of the physical tests, it was like this proven the good physical fi tness of the policemen that integrate BOPE, that was waited for a of Special Operations Batta-lion, that has as purpose the accomplishment of specialized tasks of (combats and of urban guerrilla), that need a great physical conditions for the accomplishment of these.

Recommendations

Through Dermatoglyphics and somatotype, then we could identify their dermatoglyphical and morpho-functional characteristics and his physical fi tness level through physical tests. For that, was looked for the determination of the own characteristics of the policemen that integrate the Special Operations Battalion of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Being like this, it is waited that the data obtained re-garding the identifi cation of the Dermatoglyphical, Somatotypical and Physical qualities Profi les of the policemen of BOPE, have as purpose, to come to be used as descriptive and comparative parameter, for the Special Operations Battalion of Rio de Janeiro, as form of evaluation of the possibilities in aspect of the physical and technical preparation and to initiation procedure for future policemen that are entering the BOPE.

According to Weineck 25, the basic condition of the search for

methods and protocols to identify and to develop the sporting talent is the development of an inventory of specifi c characteristics for a certain sporting modality and a subsequent comparison and attendance. It is waited, above all, that this research can serve as reference for the orientation of policemen that integrates BOPE and that the data here investigating is used as foundations for new scientifi c studies in this investigation fi eld.
