The authors have carried out a system-evolutional analysis of the institutional structure of local agro-industrial complex being a complicated historical process of suboptimal institutions and mechanisms’ changing in the negative aspect. The authors have made an attempt to specify the substance and content of the ‘agro-industrial institutional structure’ notion. The classification of agro-industrial institutional structure various forms by means of functional, level and reproduction approaches is elaborated in the article. General logics of periodization and historical tendencies in Russian agro-industrial complex institutional structure since 1861 and up to the present are given in the paper. Specific institutional agro-industrial complex “traps” according to evolution stages and implementation levels are presented. As a result, the authors have clarified the domain and developed basic categorial pattern of the agro-industrial complex institutional economic theory. The authors state that institutional structure, being the agro-industrial complex’s aspected factorial subsystem, is nothing but a complex of stable functional-status relations between economic entities in developing an integrated system of institutions, norms, rules, standards, procedures and institutes in the course of applying agrobiocenosis.
