Infant Baptisms

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated with parent and godpar-ent catechesis on the first Sunday of the month and Baptisms usually on the second and fourth Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Call the Parish Center to register.

Marriage

A rrangements should be made at least 6 months prior to the intended date of the wedding. Please call the Parish Center to schedule your date and make an appointment to speak with one of the priests.

Anointing of the Sick

The church encourages all who are ill, about to undergo sur-gery, or confined to their home due to illness to be prayed over and anointed with sacred oil. This can take place at a parish Mass, in the home or in the hospital. Please do not wait for the last moment for yourself or a loved one to be anointed and by all means speak to a priest for more information or details.

FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS

I have had several inquiries about Sam this past week. I am happy to report he is behaving himself living a quiet dog’s life from day to day. He loves fallen leaves and noses his way through them all during his walks. I don’t think I want to know what he sniffs but he sure enjoys it!

He is very happy coffee has resumed after the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass. He gets his weekly dose of donut holes and doting parishioners.

We are grateful to all who contributed to the Grand Annual Collection last weekend. The initial figure was $2,255.00. If you have not given yet, do-nations will be gratefully accepted at any time. This weekend we begin the month of November and the commemoration of our faithful departed. As usual we will have the Book of Life enthroned in the sanctuary by the Paschal Candle. If you have written your loved ones names in this book in the past there is no need to add them again. If however you have had a death within the past year, please include their names so we can pray for them throughout the month.

On this Sunday evening at 5 p.m. we will be cele-brating our Annual Memorial Mass for families who have lost a loved one through death during the year. Invitations have gone out to those fami-lies. However anyone who has had a death this year is most welcome to come. During this Mass we pray for all those who have died and for all those who are grieving their loss. A s you know saying good bye is a process that takes time for all of us. It is a painful and sad time for many and our get together is an opportunity to acknowledge this grief and to be reminded of God’s presence along that journey.

Please be sure to remember all our deceased in your prayers during this month.

Finally, the new sign for the front of the church has been ordered and has been promised by Thanksgiving!

REFLEXÕES do PADRE RON

Na passada semana tivemos várias pessoas a perguntar por Sam, o nosso cão . Ė com prazer que informo que ele se tem comportado muito bem e tem levado uma autentica e calma “vida de cão”. Adora ver as folhas do Outono a cair e quase que as farejas a todas á medida que caminhamos. Não sei nem quero saber o que ele fcareja, mas a verdade é que isso lha dá muito prazer. Tem sempre semanalmente a sua dose de biscoitos oferecidos pelos paroquianos.

Estamos verdadeiramente gratos a todos contribuiram no nosso Grande Peditório Anual. Os números iniciais eram 22,255.00 dólares. Se por acaso ainda não contribuiu, todos os donativos serão benvindos em qualquer altura.

Neste próximo fim de semana começaremos o mês de Novembro assim como as comemorações dos nossos entes queridos que já partiram. Teremos, como habitualmente, o Livro da Vida exposto no santuário. Se já inscreveu o nome do seu ou seus no Livro da Vida não é necessário fazê-lo novamente, a não ser que tenha acontecido durante o ano passado. Se foi este o caso, por favor inscreva o seu nome de modo a que possamos orar por ele durante o mês.

Neste Domingo ás 5 da tarde, celebraremos a nossa Missa Memorial do Ano para famílias que tenham perdido familiares ou outros durante o ano. Ja foram enviados convites para estas famílias. Durante esta Missa as nossas orações serão para todos os que faleceram assim como para as famílias. Como sabem, dizer adeus para sempre é um processo que demora muito tempo e que fica para sempre connosco. São tempos tristes e dolorosos e o podermos estar juntos é uma oportunidade de sentirmos essa dor e lembrar-nos da presença de Deus que nos acompanha durante essa jornada. Por favor, lembrem-se dos nossos mortos durante as vossas preces neste mês.

Para terminar: O nosso sinal para a porta da nossa Igreja foi já encomendado e foi-nos prometido para o “Thanksgiving”.

Sunday Night Football Not Your Thing?

Join us November 9th for a fascinating look at Roots

of Our Faith and examine our understanding of

Je-sus of Nazareth as well as JeJe-sus the Christ.

The evening will begin with Evening Prayer in the upper church at 5:30 pm followed by the presenta-tion at 6:00 in the meeting area of the lower church. The presenters will be Celia Sirois, a marvelous Catholic educator, and Naomi Towvim, an expert in Judaism and Jewish Education.

Rosary

The Rosary is recited in Portuguese every day at 6:00 pm in the Chapel. All are invited to participate.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

We are initiating a Prayer Shawl Ministry here at St. Michael. We invite any parishioner, regardless of their talents with crochet hook or knitting nee-dle, to participate. Anyone who would like to, can donate yarn (one shawl requires 3 skeins). There will be baskets at the entrances to the church for donations. Completed shawls are blessed by Fr. Ron and presented to any person who is seriously ill or undergoing treatment, surgery or therapy of any kind regardless of their church affiliation. The first meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministers will be on November 12 at 11:30 in the lower church. Bring a brown bag lunch and come and hear about this all important ministry. Give someone a "hug" with one of these shawls. Please contact Carmen Giom-betti, Pastoral Associate, at the Parish Office or Mary Ellen Bartlett, the Parish Nurse at 508-779-0020 if you want more information or cannot at-tend this meeting or know of someone who would benefit from receiving a Prayer Shawl.

Durante o mês de Novembro a Escola de S.Michael oferece rezas diárias em lembrança dos nossos mortos. A comunidade escolar recebe com agrado qualquer outro nome de familiares dos nossos paroquianos que tenham falecido. Todos estes nomes serão adicionados á nossa lista e serão lembrados durante a liturgia de Thanksgiving no dia 26 de Novembro, ás 9 da manhã. Os alunos do grau 6 também farão colectas de chapeus, luvas e peúgas, quentes, próprias para o Inverno que depois serão divididas no Thanksgiving. Se há alguém que deseje contribuir, por favor deixe uma mensagem nas traseiras da Igreja. O dia 3 de Novembro é a reunião de reconciliação para os Pais das crianças no segundo grau e realiza-se ás 2:30 da tarde na sala de aulas destes estudantes. Náo haverã aulas no dia 4 de Novembro. Os alunos dos graus 3 e 4 assistirão á Missa diária nos dias 3 e 5 de Novembro.

During the month of November, Saint Michael School offers daily prayers of remembrance for our deceased loved ones. The school community wel-comes any names from our parishioners of deceased loved ones whom we may add to our list. These names will also be remembered during our Thanks-giving liturgy on November 26, at 9:00 a.m. Also, our grade six students will be collecting warm hats, gloves, and socks for the guests at Our Father’s Ta-ble, to be shared with them at Thanksgiving, should anyone wish to contribute, please feel free to leave them labeled for SMS in the back of the Church. November 3 is a second grade parent reconciliation meeting at 2:30 in the students’ classroom. There will be no school on November 4. Grades Three and Four will be attending daily Mass on the No-vember third and fifth.

Pizza, Beer and Prayer

Saint Michael’s Men’s Club is off to a great start. We had a fun filled evening Wednesday, the 15th of October, where men began to build relationships, shared their faith and experi-ences with one another in a relaxed, friendly and fun-filled atmosphere. The pizza was deli-cious and water, soda and beer were enjoyed by all. The sharing of reflections on God’s Word was truly an awesome experience. The more men who come, the more we all grow through the unique gifts each of us bring to the table. Age is not a factor, in fact, the broader the age of the group, the more we can learn from the diversity of experience. Our next meeting will be held on November 19th at 7pm at the top floor meeting room of the Parish Center. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Vinnie Giombetti, club president, at

Homebound Ministry

Saint Michael’s Homebound Ministry will

bring communion to anyone who for any

rea-son cannot attend Mass. It does not matter

whether it is a single visit or a prolonged

need. If a parishioner would like a visit from

someone just to talk to, we are only too happy

do to so. Our kind and loving parish

commu-nity cares for all those who may be sick,

lonely or disabled and want only to follow the

example of our Lord, Jesus in showing a

com-passionate and inclusive face to all of our

brothers and sisters who for whatever reason

cannot join us for our Sunday Eucharistic

Celebration. Don’t be shy or feel that you are

putting anyone out, for service of LOVE is our

O Club dos Homens de S. Michael começou da melhor maneira. Tivemos uma tarde cheia na passada Quarta Feira, dia 15 de Outubro, onde os homens, ao abrigo da Palavra de Deus, começaram a construir um bom relacionamento, compartilhando a sua fé e experiências com todos, dum modo relaxado, divertido e amistoso. Tanto a piza como todas as bebidas foram do agrado de todos. Foi na verdade uma experiência fantástica. O número de dádivas e presentes trazidos pelos homens cresceu mais e mais, na mesa. A idade não foi um factor, pois a faixa de idades do grupo era de facto bem larga o que nos permitiu aprender mais com esta experiência única. A nossa próxima reunião está marcada para as 7 da tarde do dia 19 de Novembro, a realizar na sala de reuniões do piso superior do Centro Paroquial. Congratulations to Loreen Balthazar of Hudson who won the grand prize at the September

1K drawing. Many of the October drawing winners were present and took their cash

prizes home with them. In November our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving so we're having a
