Building management systems
Building management covers all aspects of advanced modern wiring installation. Nowadays, more and more things are being automated. In addition, such matters as energy saving, protection of the environment and safety of course have a key role to play as well. Building management systems of such a kind often consist of programmable bus systems which can be connected together as needed. The training course conveys basic knowledge and some small-scale applications can then be implemented.
Lighting management using DALI
Lighting management nowadays means more than just flexibility, energy saving and comfort.
DALI stands for “Digital Addressable Lighting Interface” and is a protocol for digital communication between electronic lighting controls and appliances (electronic ballast units, transformers etc.).
The new comprehensive system, consisting of a controller, sensor, extender and buttons, is characterised by the option of programming with or without computers or an overarching bus system. Configuration of the bus-controlled lighting system can be handled entirely by means of the display integrated into the controller with the help of a push-button rotary switch.

This set is intended for investigating the fundamentals of a radio-controlled smart-home automation system. The core of a smart home is a central radio interface which can simply be plugged into any electricity socket. This interface can then be used to program all the appliances used in the home. For every smart home, the following options are available:
Switching lights, heating and electrical appliances on and off via radio-controlled switches Automatic heating control via time switch or thermostat
Full-scale monitoring involving smoke detectors, motion sensors and door contacts Automatic activation of lights when entering the home
Switching lights and appliances on and off by remote control from up to 100 m away
Switching any appliances on or off while away from home via smart phones, tablet computers or PCs Use of an app to check on current consumption of electricity

This set represents a radio-controlled smart-home system. This is a centralised system which requires internet access. It can be operated via tablet computer or smart phone. All essential building functions can be implemented, such as:
Lighting control Heating control Control of blinds
Monitoring of windows and doors Smoke detection
Remote alarms via SMS
Energy consumption monitoring, smart metering
The system can be extended using any conventional Z-Wave components.

1 SMART HOMES - Z-Wave extended central control unit CO3109-7E 1
The Z-Wave central control unit handles communication between devices and provides memory for recording data and events. It has been extended with a variety of ports to allow communication with many other smart home systems. This module has additional ports to facilitate further extension at a later date.
By means of a connection to the cloud, the control unit automatically establishes communication with all connected devices so that they can be controlled by users with the help of tablet computers, smart phones, full-size computers or television sets located on site or from remote locations. Connection to the internet is required for this. The Zipabox gateway supports a host of communications standards including Z-Wave, ZigBee, KNX, ONVIF, enOcean and UPnP. The intuitive graphic user interface makes it possible for users to define their own rules even if they have no previous programming experience.
