The name of a color is, in grammatical terms, an adjective. An adjective is used to describe a noun.

THE SUBJECT OF A SENTENCE

Complete sentences have a subject. The subject is the word we are talking about. The subject of a sentence can either be a noun or a pronoun. A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun in a sentence.
