Investigation of antimicrobial resistance in pigeons (Columba livia domestica) using indicator bacteria

However, in Poland, Stenzel et al. 2014) reported a higher resistance rate for amoxicillin (63%) and oxytetracycline (75%), respectively. The appearance of low resistance may come from contaminated pigeon feed and their environments (Radimersky et al., 2010).

Evaluation of metabolic profiles of Saanen goats in the transition period

Vazquez-Anon et al. (1994) and Herdt (2000) have concluded that NEFA concentration reaching maximum levels during parturition decreased in the first weeks of lactation. As reported by Shetawi et al. 1992), in the present study, albumin levels decreased gradually until parturition and increased significantly 1 week after parturition (Table 2).

Recombinant erythropoietin treatment does not alter the blood pressure despite elevated haematological parameters in normotensive Wistar rats

Heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial blood pressure and hematological parameters were determined. A direct correlation between blood pressure and viscosity has been demonstrated in both normotensive and hypertensive subjects (Letcher et al., 1981). EPO treatment had no effect on heart rate, blood pressure and behavior, except hematological variables in normal rats.

Correlation between ESβL Salmonella Serovars Isolated from Broilers and their Virulence Genes

The prevalence of ESβL-producing organisms and associated treatment failures may be related to the failure to detect complex resistance phenotypes and may reflect the uncontrolled spread of such pathogens (Sinha et al. 2008). The rapid spread of ESβL-producing bacteria in different poultry farms poses a serious risk to livestock and humans, especially through cross-spreading of ESβL-producing bacterial strains from poultry farms to livestock farms and humans, and vice versa, spreading MDR pathogens that cause widespread spread of population infections (Brinas et al. 2003, Winokur et al. 2000). Some bacterial virulence genes are associated with the main pathogenic behavior of the bacterium (such as the ability of bacteria to adhere to specific host cells such as mucosal cells, the ability to invade). cells and/or the ability to trigger fluid secretion leading to symptoms of diarrhea). Some reports have associated a high frequency of the avrA gene in serovars considered to be the most pathogenic salmonellosis agents in poultry farms (Ben-Barak et al. 2006). The data obtained from the current study showed a significant association between invA, avrA, sopB, stn and bcfC genes for virulence and resistance to commonly used antibiotics in Egypt (Table-4/5), as previously observed in Senegal and The Gambia, but with different virulence genes and genes for resistance to antimicrobial drugs (Dione et al. .

Isobolographic analysis of analgesic interactions of silymarin with ketamine in mice

Kamaraj and Rahuman, (2012) tested the ovicidal and larvicidal activities of methanol extracts of five medicinal plants (Annona squamosa, Eclipta prostrata, Solanum torvum, Terminalia chebula and Catharanthus roseus) on Haemon. This study concludes that both extracts (methanol and n-hexane) of Arachis hypogaea peels show significant anthelmintic activity against eggs, larvae and increased motility of Haemonchus contortus. Further research is recommended to evaluate the in-vivo efficacy of Arachis hypogaea against Haemonchus contortus in sheep.

Effect of genotype on adipose tissue fatty acids profile of two autochthonous sheep breed

ABSTRACT: This research aimed to investigate the influence of different sheep genotypes on the fatty acid profile of adipose tissue. As already mentioned, relatively little work has been done to determine the effect of lambs on the n-3 fatty acid composition of meat and adipose tissue (Hoffman et al., 2003). Share of saturated fatty acids (SFAs), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in adipose tissue of lambs.

Heat killed Dietzia maris reduces lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses in murine adherent peritoneal cells

Dietzia maris (D. maris) is a gram-positive, aerobic, mycolic acid-containing actinomycete without aerial mycelium (Pidoux et al., 2001). Then, nonadherent cells were removed by gently washing with PBS, followed by the addition of freshly prepared medium ( Nofouzi et al., 2017 ). Previous work showed that Helicobacter pylori attenuated LPS-induced nitric oxide production by mouse macrophages (Lu et al., 2011).

A novel β-lactam-aminoglycoside combination in veterinary medicine: The co- use of ceftiofur and gentamicin to combat resistant Escherichia coli

The mutant inhibition concentration test was used to assess the potential for suppressing the resistance trend of the combination. The minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) and mutant inhibition concentration (MPC) of the combination were determined as previously described (Blondeau et al., 2001; Hansen and Blondeau, 2005). The other benefit of the CEF+GEN combination was a difference in the individual MPCs of CEF and GEN.

Risk factors associated with reproductive disorders in dairy cows in Algeria

Boudelal 1 , A. Niar 2

It was performed on 449 dairy cows from 22 commercial dairy cows located in Algerian highland regions (Medea, Tiaret and Tissemsilt areas). The incidence of dystocia, RFM and metritis was 11.8%, respectively. Vieira-Neto et al. 2016) indicate that the occurrence of RFM was negatively correlated with BCS. Our results are consistent with those of Bahri Binabaj et al. 2014), in which they showed that male calf birth is a significant risk factor for RFM.

The Effects of Plant Fibers on Improving the Properties of Meat Emulsion

They affect water binding capacity, oil adsorption capacity, viscosity, gel forming properties of meat products (Biswas et al., 2011). Moreover, Aleson-Carbonell et al. 2005) reported that the albedo of dehydrated lemon increased water retention in meat products. The rheological properties of such foods are related to the solubility and hydration (swelling) properties of the fibers (Thebaudin et al., 1997).

Harmful effects of dietary supplementation of boron on blood parameters of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Decrease in the serum TP, Alb, Glu and Ure values was determined compared to the control (P<0.05). The Hgb values obtained in the study showed a statistically significant decrease as the amount of boron mineral. In all living organisms, this ratio increases in cases where albumin increases, while the ratio decreases in the table where globulin increases (Kaneko et al., 2008).

Effect of embryo quality on pregnancy outcome in recipient cows and heifers

Embryo transfer (ET) is an important technique used to shorten the generation interval of genetically valuable individuals and thereby increase the herd potential by transferring target traits to offspring (Hasler, 2014). As can be seen in Table 3, the number and pregnancy rates of recipient cows and heifers were significantly different (P<0.05). The distribution of achieved pregnancy rates according to recipient group and embryo quality level is presented in Table 4.
