Através dessa pesquisa com base no referencial teórico, foi possível observar que o Turismo responsável pode ser definido também como uma forma de turismo sustentável, buscando a mesma finalidade em alcançar uma prática sustentável. Porém, a diferença entre esses conceitos está relacionada à aplicação da responsabilidade das partes envolvidas que é enfatizada no conceito de Turismo Responsável.
Este estudo identificou através da bibliometria a produção científica distribuída entre os anos de 1990 a agosto de 2019. Os artigos examinados na amostra demonstram que as pesquisas sobre Turismo responsável apresentaram crescimento de publicações. Porém, a literatura ainda é escassa, em comparação com outros tópicos, sendo este presente trabalho, pioneiro na análise bibliométrica do uso do termo ―Responsible Tourism‖ no campo da ciência internacional. Portanto, essa análise bibliométrica pode ajudar futuros pesquisadores a avançarem em suas investigações sobre o tema.
Novas etapas podem ser seguidas a partir deste estudo preliminar, como um estudo bibliométrico do termo em outros idiomas, catalogando os principais autores que abordam o tema em um país específico. Embora, em geral os estudos bibliométricos tomam como base as publicações em inglês pelos artigos de alto impacto serem encontrados em periódicos de língua inglesa. Outra etapa a seguir seria aprofundar as análises, como uma revisão sistemática do tema na literatura.
A palavra-chave ―Responsible Tourism‖ utilizada como estratégia de busca na base Scopus recuperaram os trabalhos publicados a nível internacional, destacando os países Reino Unido, Estados Unidos e África do sul. A nível nacional, apenas 1 artigo brasileiro foi publicado e reconhecido no campo da ciência internacional no ano de 2012. Porém, os artigos

nacionais encontrados sobre o tema são nos anos de 2014 e 2017, podendo ser o início da discussão no país.
No ranking das referências mais utilizadas em todos os documentos selecionados, destacam-se por ordem decrescente: Goodwin, H. e Francis, J. (2003), Budeanu, A. (2007), Wheeller, B. (1990) e Sin, H. L. (2010). Estes artigos podem ser considerados os mais relevantes para o embasamento teórico dos futuros documentos estudados. E bases referenciais obrigatórias para um prosseguimento ou no aprofundamento do assunto.
O recente surgimento de países asiáticos, como a China, também é perceptível. Pode- se concluir que os estudos sobre esse tema vêm ganhando espaço recentemente no país.
No ranking das três principais revistas que publicaram, se destacaram: Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Management e Sustainability (Switzerland). Elas estão relacionadas com as áreas de negócios, gestão e contabilidade e de ciências sociais e Ciência ambiental. Ao analisar o ranking das cinco revistas que mais se destacaram, as áreas relacionadas a de negocio, gestão e contabilidade se apresentaram mais recorrentes.
As palavras-chaves que apresentaram maior destaque enfatizam a relevância na literatura das principais vertentes que são abordas. Todas elas convergem em sua maioria para um paradigma sobre desenvolvimento turístico e sustentável, relacionados ao gerenciamento turístico e da busca do desenvolvimento turístico nas práticas para o alcance do turismo responsável.
Diversas vertentes estão ligadas a prática do Turismo Responsável. Para sua ocorrência devem ser incorporadas perspectivas sociais, econômicas e ambientais, sendo preciso planejamento de variados setores para a gestão organizacional e o desenvolvimento da prática do turismo responsável.
O resultado deste estudo está limitado à base de dados da plataforma Scopus, devido ao uso do software VOSviewer permitir a escolha de somente uma base de dados para a exportação de arquivos. Com isso, pode haver outros estudos encontrados em outras bases de dados dos quais não estão contabilizados nesta pesquisa.
