A revisão de 1650 laudos histológicos de HT, referentes aos procedimentos realizados no período de 1998 a 2007, aos quais foram recuperados 486 (28%) prontuários clínicos, destacamos como fator limitante deste estudo, o fato de que a procura é ainda feita de forma manual, pois não existe busca eletrônica de dados dos pacientes. Muitos prontuários não foram encontrados no arquivo médico do HRAS, onde verificamos também duplicidade de prontuários com datas e procedimentos não relacionados à HT. Outra limitação encontrada foi a escassez de trabalhos, referências e informações em relação aos parâmetros cirúrgicos prevalentes em nossa população (RIBEIRO et al., 2003; COSTA et al., 2003).
