LESSON nº 1 LESSON PLAN

Topic: Health is in Theme: Fast Food

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

- relate the reproduction of the painting False Food Selections, Prototype Box, by Claes Oldenburg, with the topic of the unit Health is in and with the theme of the lesson Fast Food;

- relate an excerpt from the poem “A Step Away from Them”, by Frank O’Hara, to the topic of the unit and the theme of the lesson;

- apply vocabulary related to the theme of the lesson in a fluent manner, both orally and in writing;

- express themselves about healthy and unhealthy eating habits; - relate the painting to the poem;

- recognise the context of use of Quantifiers; - apply the learnt structure to new situations;

- make use of their speaking skills in a more fluent manner; - make a better use of their writing skills;

Quantifier + noun

some: in affirmative sentences before a plural or an uncountable noun. no: in affirmative sentences with countable and uncountable nouns

any: in interrogative and negative sentences before a plural or an uncountable noun. many: goes before countable nouns (plural).

much: goes before uncountable nouns and in negative and interrogative sentences.

We use many or much after too, so and as: too much, too many…

most: before countable and uncountable nouns.

Function:

The teacher will start the lesson by writing the summary on the blackboard and reading it at the same time so that students are informed about the topic of the unit
