6. Limitações do estudo

O estudo foi apenas realizado em participantes do sexo masculino do Clube Coronário de Lisboa, o que pode não refletir a realidade geral dos participantes num PRC com mesma faixa etária e de participantes do sexo feminino. A amostra é de tamanho reduzido, no entanto, os participantes incluídos estão no PRC há muitos anos e seguidos de forma regular.

Para além disso, estudo foi limitado pela ausência de um grupo de controlo, não sendo possível comparar as alterações com indivíduos saudáveis e ativos relativamente às variáveis cardiorrespiratórias e hemodinâmicas.

Em relação às alterações relacionadas com o exercício, não foi possível obter a medicação realizada pelos participantes ao longo das avaliações, não sendo possível determinar a sua influência na resposta ao exercício. Relativamente aos fatores externos ao PRC, não foi possível obter informação sobre os comportamentos alimentares e sobre atividade física realizada para além das sessões de treino. Quanto à assiduidade, não existe registo completo dos participantes nas sessões ao longo dos 3 momentos.

Por fim, a literatura disponível tem poucos estudos com um longo período de intervenção de PRC e com um longo período de seguimento, sobretudo em relação à PCP e O2 Pulso.
