7. Limitações
O facto de se tratar de um estudo retrospetivo implicou a ausência de alguma informação e dados clínicos, que poderiam ter contribuído para outros resultados e conclusões. Outras limitações foram as seguintes:
A pequena amostra disponível foi também uma importante limitação na obtenção de mais resultados estatísticos significativos;
A ecocardiografia foi o principal meio de diagnóstico de DP, pelo que a etiologia desta doença foi assumida presuntivamente a partir da imagem ecocardiográfica observada. De facto, a ausência de confirmação histopatológica não permitiu a obtenção de um diagnóstico definitivo, tendo sido este facto uma limitação do presente estudo.
Desta forma, é possível concluir que seria interessante a nível de resultados e conclusões a possibilidade de realizar o mesmo estudo com uma maior amostra de cães, cujo diagnóstico definitivo tivesse sido determinado.
