It is with great satisfaction that we announce the second volumeof Rausp2017.Aspartof thecelebrationof the70th anniversary of RAUSP, in this edition, the ThinkBox bring as a guest, Daniel Friel, Professor of Business Administra-tion,fromUniversidadSanAdrés,inBuenosAires,Argentina, whichpresent uswiththearticle “Understandinginstitutions: differentparadigms,differentconclusions”.Frieldiscussesthe theme“institutions”whichhas increasinglybecome a promi-nentvariableinunderstandingorganizations’configurationand performance.
Thisvolumeorbitalesmostlyaroundinnovation,learningand knowledge,seekingtorelatetheseconstructstotheperformance oforganizations.
In the article “Innovation andproductivity: empirical evi-denceforBrazilianindustrialenterprises”,theauthorsLuciana CarvalhoandAnaPaulaMacedoAvellar,havealookoverthe innovationintheBraziliancompaniesandsuggestaweak rela-tionofthisvariableonproductivityfactor.
Theauthors GiancarloGomes andRafaele MatteWojahn, in“Organizationallearning capability,innovation and perfor-mance:studyinsmallandmedium-sizedenterprises”(SMES), verifythatorganizationallearninginfluencetheinnovative per-formance of small and medium-sized textile companies in Brazil,butalsonotethatlearningabilitydoesnotprovide evi-denceofrelationshiptoorganizationalperformance.
In “The translationsand the organizingof scientific prac-ticesinR&Dbiotechnology”fromtheauthorsLorenaBezerra deSouzaMatos eAnaSilvia RochaIpiranga, the innovation is showed from an ethnographic study developmentof prac-ticesrelatedtoR&DintheNortheastNetworkofBiotechnology (Brazil).Theauthorsdrawattentiontotheinfluenceof leader-shipintheorganizationofthenetworkand,consequently,tothe developmentofresearch.

Basedonthepricingstrategies,theauthorsDeonirDeToni, GabrielSperandioMilan,EvandroBusataSacilotoandFabiano Larentis, in“Pricingstrategies andtheir impact oncorporate profitability”,proposeandtestatheoreticalmodelin150 com-paniesof themetal-mechanicalpoleLocatedinthe Northeast region of theState of RioGrandedo Sul,Brazil. Finally,in“Asubstantivetheoryontheimplementation pro-cess of operational performance improvement methods”, the authorsDarlanJoséRoman,MarileiOsinskiandRolfHermann Erdmannfromaqualitativestudy,investigatethephenomenon oftheimplementationofaperformanceimprovementsystemin organizations.Theauthorsconcludethatsuccessful implemen-tationofimprovementsdependsonasystemicviewthatinvolves behavioralandstructuralaspectsoftheorganization.
