LIFE IN THE BRAZILIAN AMAZON’S FLOODED FORESTS (English text)
The forests flooded by white waters called várzea forests, are fertile (because they hold up organic and mineral sediments) and are richer in fish, other animais and plants than igapó forests (of the black waters). The interfluves - an area where the two waters meet and they mix are specially rich in a diversity of species, particularly during the full rainy season. There are some cases where an avifauna stands out on opposite sides of rivers or are substituted, as the (Track 33) which happens from the Rio Negro's right shore up to the Solimões (Track 46) that happens in the right shore of the Solimões and Amazonas Rivers; of the endemic species only found along the white waters in the Amazon (Tracks 43 to 46). The landscape and dynamics of life in these forests change according to the volume of the hydrographic basin. Voices of the birds in the igapó and várzea forests can be heard from twilight to dawn (Track 01 and 42). Most of them happen in both environments and they are active throughout the day (Tracks 2 to 37, 43 to 50). The Squirrel Monkey (Track 37) is a primate that lives in places where it can hunt and reproduce. Some birds are only active at night and dawn (Tracks 38 to 40). The Milk Tree Frog is a curious amphibian (Track 41) that was described recently and lives in the ecotone between the flooded and theTerra Firme forest and it vocalizes at night, at the top of the tree trunk Some birds are as active in the daytime as they are at night (Tracks 10,12,20,22, 36 and 49).

A VIDA NAS FLORESTAS ALAGADAS DO AMAZONAS (Portuguese Text) As matas alagadas pelas águas brancas chamadas florestas de várzea, são férteis, pois carreiam sedimentos orgânicos e minerais em suspensão e são mais ricas em peixes e outros animais e plantas que as matas de igapó (de águas negras). O interflúvio – área onde as duas águas se encontram e se misturam são áreas especialmente ricas diversidade de espécies, sobretudo no período da cheia. Em alguns casos a avifauna é diferenciada em lados opostos de rios ou se substituem como o (Faixa 33) que ocorre da margem direita do Rio Negro até o Solimões e (Faixa 46) que ocorre na margem direita dos rios Solimões e Amazonas; de espécies endêmicas que somente são encontradas ao longo das águas brancas na Amazônia (Faixas 43 a 46). A paisagem e a dinâmica da vida nessas florestas muda conforme o volume da bacia hidrográfica. Do crepúsculo ao amanhecer destaca-se o vozerio da passarada nas matas de igapó e de várzea (Faixas 1 e 42). A maioria delas ocorre em ambos ambientes e são ativas durante o dia (Faixas 2 a 37, 43 a 50). O macaco-de-cheiro (Faixa 37) é um primata que vive nestes ambientes, onde caça e se reproduz. Algumas aves são ativas somente à noite e de madrugada (Faixas 38 a 40). Curiosa é a perereca-canuaru (Faixa 41), recentemente descrita e que vive no ecótono entre a mata alagada e a mata de terra firme e vocaliza à noite, no alto do tronco. Algumas aves são ativas tanto de dia quanto de noite (Faixas 10, 12, 20, 22, 36 e 49).
Neste CD o autor mostra a identidade acústica das florestas alagadas de igapó e de várzea, numa viagem imaginária.
