Objectivos desta U.C.
No final do semestre, cada aluno deverá:
- compreender a história do desenvolvimento da Internet, e formular
hipóteses quanto ao seu desenvolvimento no futuro;
Internet;

Avaliação
•
Em
frequência
•
75% de assistência às aulas (teóricas e práticas)
(excepto estatuto de trabalhador-estudante; outras situações particulares, falar comigo)
•
classificação final = 50% nota da comp. teórica + 50% nota comp. prática
•
adicional (Oral)

Questões?
•
internet ou Internet?
The word internet with small-i was coined to mean inter-network or network of
networks
that would later correspond to the bottom 3 layers and partially to layer 4 of the OSI
reference model; whereas, Internet with capital-I was used to mean internet protocols
and services in the internet like WWW/HTTP, Telnet, FTP, or email. Over last few years
this has changed, today it is difficult to differentiate Internet from internet; because, the
domain for either of them is likely to cover all 7 layers of the OSI reference model,
applied on the larger network of networks. Today’s Internet is not only inter-network but
inter-service; it is interoperable and mixture of services like voice, image, and moving
pictures with high level of security. The Internet of the future will demand high
bandwidth multimedia or consumer entertainment, high availability and ubiquity, with
intelligence inbuilt within so that almost anything will be possible in the Internet.
