BUILT FOR PRECISION

The load frame of the F-25EX is manufactured from structural steel angles with top and bottom crossheads of solid steel plate. The hydraulic cylinder assembly is mounted to the top crosshead, with force being applied in a downward direction. This design eliminates buildup of foreign material around the piston cylinder area. The machine has a 6 inch diameter power piston. Hydraulic pressure is supplied to the power piston assembly by a two-stage pump. The hydraulic control system is comprised of a single control valve.

GREAT FOR FIELD OR LAB USE

The F-25EX is designed to be placed on a fl oor, used in the fi eld, or it can be bolted to a benchtop. As a Field Model, the F-25EX is compact, extremely rugged, and portable. It’s an excellent choice for testing at the jobsite.

The Best Seller becomes a Laboratory Model when the optional stand is added. The stand raises the controls to an ergonomic operating level. The base of the stand has bolt holes for fl oor mounting.

CYLINDER SPLITTING ASSEMBLY

This test, also known as the Brazilian cylinder splitting test, is performed with the cylinder placed on its side.

This extended frame machine tests one or two blocks in prism and capable of loading a block to 500,000 lbf (2,224 kN). The carrier bracket moves the platen in and out of the machine.

CREEP TESTER

This custom designed 100,000 lbf capacity tester was designed to hold fi ve 6x12 inch cylinders stacked longitudinally. The FORNEY design, with a range of 22,500 to 100,000 lbf, closely simulates the anticipated loading age conditions so that accurate long-term measurements can be recorded. Deformation of the cylinders is monitored throughout the test via a mechanical bourdon type gauge.

This custom designed machine was adapted from a FORNEY Universal Tester with Extended Frame in order to test Rebar with T-Caps in tension. Working with a customer, the FORNEY engineers knew from the start that maintaining frame rigidity would be extremely important. Taking a normal frame and doubling its overall height requires more than simply stretching the drawings—a host of calculations goes into creation of a custom-designed machine.

R-VALUE (STABILOMETER) TESTER

The Press-Aire

Meter is the industry’s most popular kit for testing entrained air.

Whether going into the Ready Mix truck or coming down the chute, it gives fast

results. Always accurate. The kit contains everything needed to perform the test

and — very importantly — to keep the unit in calibration.

It measures the air content in fresh mix concrete. The test procedure equalizes a

known volume of air in the pressure chamber, with the unknown value of entrained

air in the concrete-fi lled base. The amount of air entrained is then read on the

meter’s gauge as the direct percentage (to the nearest 0.1%) of air entrained in the

concrete. The test is based on Boyle’s law. Also known as “Type B”. See Full

Instruc-tions or refer to ASTM.

The air meter unit consists of 2 main parts: the base (measuring chamber) and the

cover assembly. The cast aluminum base has machine-fl anged rims. The interior

surfaces of the base and surfaces of rims, fl anges and other component parts are

disas-sembly in order to replace worn or damaged parts in the fi eld.

Super Pump

The Super Pump is an important part of the Air Meter. It must be properly

maintained to prevent air leakage. O-rings on the top of the pump and on the

inside seal the unit. When the O-rings deteriorate, air can leak into the chamber

and or debris can enter the pump. Some customers prefer the time-saving

conve-nience of simply replacing the Super Pump, but FORNEY also sells a handy

Gasket Repair Kit.

The Super Pump (LA-0316-22) adds air to the sealed air chamber. Once the initial

pressure is reached, the air is released into the vessel containing the concrete and

the percentage of entrained air can be determined.

Concrete Test Hammers

Test hammers are used to assess the uniformity of in-place concrete to determine regions of poor quality or deterioration and to estimate strength. They provide quick results and are non-destructive. Covermeters are used to determine the depth and placement direction of No. 2 to No. 14 (5 mm to 50 mm) reinforcement bar inside in-place concrete. Covermaster uses the pulse detection eddy-current detection principle to accurately locate in-concrete reinforcement bars. Cover Master con-sists of a Ni-Cd battery powered control unit with digital display reading depth to two decimal places. A loud audio signal indicates rebar location and direction. The hand-held detection head connects to the control unit by coaxial cable. Units come standard with search head connecting cable, rechargeable battery pack and battery charger, earphone, shoulder strap, plastic carrying case and operating instructions. Units are powered by 110 V current. Operating temperature range is 50 °F to 90 °F (10 °C to 32 °C). Accuracy after calibration: ±0.1 in (±2.5 mm). LA-0803-10 has a standard head.
