2009 Activity Report
A Seção Rio de Janeiro conta atualmente com seis Capítulos ativos: Comunicações, Potência & Energia, Circuitos e Sistemas e os conjuntos
Eletrônica de Potência / Eletrônica Industrial / Aplicações Industriais, Antenas e Propagação / Técnicas de Microondas / Dispositivos Eletrônicos
e finalmente Instrumentação / Controle. Em 2009, todas as atividades técnicas dos Capítulos foram fortemente apoiadas pela Seção. Exemplo
deste apoio foi ajuda financeira para palestras técnicas oferecidas pelos conferencistas: Dr. Jorge Jardim da Nexant Inc. USA, Prof. Hsiao-Dong
Chiang da Cornell University, USA, Prof. Ross Baldick, da Texas University, USA. Ajudamos ainda na divulgação de outras palestras oferecidas
pelos capítulos.
No dia 02 de Abril, comemorando os 125 anos do IEEE, a Seção Rio homenageou seus membros Fellow no evento “Encontro com os Fellows –
Comemorando 125 Anos do IEEE”. A Seção Rio se destaca no número de membros Fellow dentro da Região 9 do IEEE, que engloba toda a
Améria Latina. À época, existiam 29 membros Fellow na Região 9, onde 19 eram brasileiros, dos quais 12 da Seção Rio. Os 12 membros Fellow
da Seção Rio que foram homenageados são:Carlos Augusto O. Peixoto (Fellow Classe 1981), aposentado. Carlos Emanuel de Souza (Fellow
Classe 2006), pesquisador titular do Laboratório Nacional de Computação Científica. Carlos Manuel Portela (Fellow Classe 2007), professor
titular da COPPE/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Djalma Mosqueira Falcão (Fellow Classe 2004), professor titular da
COPPE/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Jacques Szczupak (Fellow Classe 2001), diretor técnico administrativo da Engenho Pesquisa.
Jerzy Lepecki (Fellow Classe 1985), aposentado. José Roberto Boisson De Marca (Fellow Classe 1995), professor da Pontifícia Universidade
Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Márcio Szechtman (Fellow Classe 1996), consultor independente. Marcus Theodor Schilling (Fellow Classe
2005), professor titular da Universidade Federal Fluminense. Nelson Martins (Fellow Classe 1998), pesquisador do CEPEL. Paulo Cesar Vaz
Esmeraldo (Fellow Classe 2000), superintendente da Empresa de Pesquisa Energética. Paulo Sergio Ramirez Diniz (Fellow Classe 2000),
professor titular da COPPE/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
A Seção Rio de Janeiro apoiou fortemente os ramos estudantis. Foi dado apoio financeiro para a estadia de estudantes do Rio de Janeiro visando
a Reunião Nacional de Estudantes, ocorrida em Ilha Solteira, São Paulo. A diretoria da Seção Rio esteve representada no RNR pelo seu
Vice-presidente Walter Suemitsu. Providenciamos ainda ajuda financeira para a organização desta reunião. Além disto, apoiamos financeiramente a
participação de dois estudantes do Rio de Janeiro e o presidente do ramo GOLD para assistirem à Reunião Regional dos Estudantes R9 (RRR),
ocorrida em Guayaquil, Equador. A diretoria da Seção Rio esteve representada na RRR pelo seu Presidente Glauco Taranto. Na ocasião da
RRR2009 a Seção Rio deu total apoio à candidatura do Rio de Janeiro para sede da RRR2010. Infelizmente, a candidatura ficou em segundo
lugar.
A Seção Rio participou da Reunião Regional em Aguascalientes, Mexico, com a presença de seu presidente. Participou também da reunião do
Conselho Brasil em duas ocasiões, uma durante a RR (Aguascalientes) e uma na RNR (Ilha Solteira).
