The 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time

First Reading

In those days, I Daniel,heard this word of the Lord:

"At that time there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian of your people; it shall be a time

unsurpassed in distress since nations began until that time.

At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book.

“Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace.

“But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever."

Second Reading .Heb 10:11-14, 18 Brothers and sisters:

Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins.

But this one offered one sacrifice for sins,

and took his seat forever at the right hand of God;

now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool.

For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated.

Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.

QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK

First Reading:

The prophet Daniel foresees a time of

“unsurpassed distress” where all receive divine judgement of either everlasting life or

everlasting disgrace. Do thoughts of the end times bring you comfort or concern?

Second Reading:

The author of Hebrews continues to emphasize Jesus’ death as the definitive and final sacrificial offering for sins. Why do you think this is a central theme in the Letter to the Hebrews?

Gospel:

Jesus speaks of his Second Coming at the end of time and warns his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert!” How are you preparing for judgment day?

Jesus said to his disciples:

"In those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened,

and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

"And then they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great power and glory,

and then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.

"Learn a lesson from the fig tree.

When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.

In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the gates.

Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

The Filipino Parishioners of Madonna Del Sasso will be sponsoring a Christmas

shopping spree bus trip to San Francisco Union Square on

Saturday, November 20, 2021.

The bus will depart from Madonna’s

church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and return at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The cost is $60 per person.

Primera Lectura Dn 12, 1-3

En aquel tiempo, se levantará Miguel, el gran príncipe que defiende a tu pueblo.

Será aquél un tiempo de angustia, como no lo hubo desde el principio del mundo. Entonces se salvará tu pueblo; todos aquellos que están escritos en el libro.

Hermanos: En la antigua alianza los sacerdotes ofre- cían en el templo, diariamente y de pie, los mismos sacrificios, que no podían perdonar los pecados.

no le queda sino aguardar a quesus enemigos sean puestos bajo sus pies. Así, con una sola ofrenda, hizo perfectos para siempre a los que ha santificado.

The School of Ministry is pleased to offer the inperson Specialization of Liturgical Ministry. It will provide formation and training in multiple liturgical ministries so important to the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist in our parishes. The 4Saturday Series will address; meeting Christ in multiple ways in the Liturgy; the centrality of the Paschal Mystery;

focus of the 2^nd Vatican Council in the Liturgy’s renewal; difference of Liturgical prayer from devotional prayer; the history of ministries utilized in the Liturgy; serving as an Extraordinary Minister, Lector/ Reader, Greeter, and Minister of Hospitality, usher, and Minister of Liturgical Environment. Fr. Peter will also address the Instituted Ministries opened to the laity recently promulgated by Pope Francis. He will address as well, in practical ways, how your ministry will help to enliven and enrich the Sacred Liturgy. This will be an excellent series for all who are involved in parish Liturgical Ministries, those who aren’t but would like to be, as well as for parish leaders in Liturgy. You will enjoy this series!
