RESOLUTION

CD19.R11

EMERGENCY SITUATION IN HONDURAS AND EL SALVADOR

THE 19th DIRECTING COUNCIL,

Having considered Document CD19/25 and Addendum on the Inter-American Emergency Aid

Fund and the emergency situation in Honduras and El Salvador;

Bearing in mind the action taken by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States

and by the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau in this situation; and

Bearing in mind the statements made by the representatives at this meeting of the Council,

RESOLVES

1. To take note of the establishment of the Inter-American Emergency Aid Fund and of its Statutes.

2. To thank the Secretary General of the Organization of American States for promptly making

available the necessary funds for carrying out the purposes of the Inter-American Emergency Aid

Fund.

3. To thank the Governments that have provided Honduras and El Salvador, either through PAHO

or on their own account, with effective assistance in the form of manpower or material resources for

4. To express its satisfaction with the action taken by the Director of the Pan American Sanitary

Bureau, and to authorize him, in accordance with Article 6.5 of the PAHO Financial Regulations, to

make an advance of up to $100,000 from the Working Capital Fund for the purpose of providing

Honduras and El Salvador with assistance if the urgency of the situation so requires.
