First Reading 





When Moses came to the people and related all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all answered with one voice, "We will do everything that the LORD has told us."

Moses then wrote down all the words of the LORD and, rising early the next day, he erected at the foot of the mountain an altar and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

Then, having sent certain young men of the Israelites to offer holocausts and sacrifice young bulls as peace  offerings to the LORD, Moses took half of the blood and put it in large bowls; the other half he splashed on the altar.

Taking the book of the covenant, he read it aloud to the people, who answered, "All that the LORD has said, we will heed and do."

Then he took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, saying, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words of

his."

On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?"

He sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him.

Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my  disciples?"'

Then he will show you a large upper room  furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there."

The disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them;

and they prepared the Passover. 

While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

He said to them, "This is my blood of the  covenant, which will be shed for many.

Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Second Reading

Brothers and sisters:

When Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come to be, passing through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, that is, not 

belonging to this creation, he entered once for all into the  sanctuary, not with the blood of goats and calves but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.

For if the blood of goats and bulls and the sprinkling of a heifer's ashes can sanctify those who are defiled

so that their flesh is cleansed, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to worship the living God.

For this reason he is mediator of a new covenant: since a death has taken place for deliverance from transgressions under the first covenant,

those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance.

El Cuerpo y La Sangre Cristo

En aquellos días, Moisés bajó del monte Sinaí y refirió al pueblo todo lo que el Señor le había dicho y los manda-mientos que le había dado. Y el pueblo contestó a una voz: “Haremos todo lo que dice el Señor”.

Moisés puso por escrito todas las palabras del Señor. Se levantó temprano, construyó un altar al pie del monte y puso al lado del altar doce piedras conmemorativas, en representación de las doce tribus de Israel.

Después mandó a algunos jóvenes israelitas a ofrecer holo-caustos e inmolar novillos, como sacrificios pacíficos en honor del Señor. Tomó la mitad de la sangre, la puso en vasijas y derramó sobre el altar la otra mitad.

Entonces tomó el libro de la alianza y lo leyó al pueblo, y el pueblo respondió: “Obedeceremos. Haremos todo lo que manda el Señor”.

Luego Moisés roció al pueblo con la sangre, diciendo: “Ésta es la sangre de la alianza que el Señor ha hecho con ustedes, conforme a las palabras que han oído”.

Hermanos: Cuando Cristo se presentó como sumo sacer-dote que nos obtiene los bienes definitivos, penetró una sola vez y para siempre en el “lugar santísimo”, a través de una tienda, que no estaba hecha por mano de hombres, ni pertenecía a esta creación. No llevó consigo sangre de animales, sino su propia sangre, con la cual nos obtuvo una redención eterna.

Porque si la sangre de los machos cabríos y de los bece-rros y las cenizas de una ternera, cuando se esparcían so-bre los impuros, eran capaces de conferir a los israelitas una pureza legal, meramente exterior, ¡cuánto más la san-gre de Cristo purificará nuestra conciencia de todo peca-do, a fin de que demos culto al Dios vivo, ya que a impul-sos del Espíritu Santo, se ofreció a sí mismo como sacrifi-cio inmaculado a Dios, y así podrá purificar nuestra con-ciencia de las obras que conducen a la muerte, para servir al Dios vivo!

Por eso, Cristo es el mediador de una alianza nueva. Con su muerte hizo que fueran perdonados los delitos cometi-dos durante la antigua alianza, para que los llamacometi-dos por Dios pudieran recibir la herencia eterna que él les había prometido.

El primer día de la fiesta de los panes Azimos, cuando se sacrificaba el cordero pascual, le  preguntaron a Jesús sus discípulos: “¿Dónde quieres que vayamos a prepararte la cena de Pascua?” Él les dijo a dos de ellos: “Vayan a la ciudad. Encontrarán a un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; síganlo y díganle al dueño de la casa en donde entre: ‘El Maestro manda 

preguntar: ¿Dónde está la habitación en que voy a comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?’ Él les enseñará una sala en el segundo piso, arreglada con divanes. Prepárennos allí la cena”. Los  discípulos se fueron, llegaron a la ciudad,  encontraron lo que Jesús les había dicho y  prepararon la cena de Pascua.

Mientras cenaban, Jesús tomó un pan,

pronunció la bendición, lo partió y se lo dio a sus discípulos, diciendo: “Tomen: esto es mi cuerpo”. Y tomando en sus manos una copa de vino, pronunció la acción de gracias, se la dio, todos bebieron y les dijo: “Ésta es mi sangre, sangre de la alianza, que se derrama por todos. Yo les aseguro que no volveré a beber del fruto de la vid hasta el día en que beba el vino nuevo en el Reino de Dios”.

Después de cantar el himno, salieron hacia el monte de los Olivos.

PREGUNTAS DE LA SEMANA

Moisés y los antiguos israelitas ratificaron la alianza que Dios estableció con ellos en el monte Sinaí con la sangre de un animal sacrificado. El animal sacrificado afirmó el com-promiso de Israel: "Haremos todo lo que dice el Señor." ¿Por qué crees que Israel ató la sangre sacrificada a su compromiso verbal?

Asistencia para gastos fúnebres por COVID-19

La pandemia de COVID-19 ha causado tanto desconsuelo para tantas familias. En FEMA, nuestra misión es ayudar a las personas antes, durante y después de los desastres. Permanecemos comprometidos en brindar algún alivio en la presión y carga económica que este terrible virus ha causado.

FEMA proporciona asistencia económica para los gastos fúnebres relacionados con COVID-19 incurridos des-pués del 20 de enero de 2020.

Para ser elegible a la asistencia para gastos fúnebres, usted deberá cumplir con las siguientes condiciones:

>La muerte debe haber ocurrido en los Estados Unidos, incluyendo los territorios estadounidenses y el Distrito de Columbia.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID19) FUNERAL ASSISTANCE

The COVID19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. At FEMA, our mission is to help people  before, during and after disasters. We are dedicated to helping ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the virus. FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID 19related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. 



To be eligible for funeral assistance, you must meet these conditions: 

>The death must have occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.  >The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to or caused by COVID19. 

>The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, noncitizen national or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020. 

>There is no requirement for the deceased person to have been a U.S. citizen, noncitizen national or qualified alien. 



Which expenses will qualify for reimbursement? 

Examples of eligible expenses for funeral services and interment or cremation may include, but not limited to: 

•Transportation for up to two people to identify the deceased individual 

•The transfer of remains, a casket or urn    •A burial plot or cremation niche 

•A marker or headstone     •Clergy or officiant services 

•The arrangement of a funeral ceremony   •The use of funeral home equipment or staff 

•Cremation or interment costs     •Costs associated with producing multiple death certificates 



What information do I need to provide to FEMA? 

Please have the following information before contacting FEMA to apply: 

•Your name, social security number, date of birth, mailing address and contact phone numbers. 

•The name, social security number and date of birth for each deceased individual. 

•The location or address where the deceased individual passed away. 

•Documentation and receipts for any assistance already received from other sources, including burial or funeral insurance, donations, voluntary agencies, other government programs or nonprofit organizations. 

•If you and another person both incurred funeral expenses for the same deceased individual(s), you can also provide that person as a coapplicant ² include their name, social security number and date of birth

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

As we gather today to reaffirm our faith in the Real 

Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, we are reminded that we are also the Body of Christ. The mission of the Gospel calls us to be Christ for others. There is so much 

brokenness and pain in our world. Many people are lost and feeling lonely, marginalized and oppressed, victimized and abused. Every time we receive the Body (and Blood) of Christ, we are asked to become what we eat. 

Are we willing to step aside from our preoccupations and concerns so that we can be Christ for others? 

The power and presence of Christ in the Eucharist becomes present in us. In receiving this transforming presence of Christ, we can truly effect change in the lives of those we meet. We can show them God’s unconditional, everpresent love and the beauty that can come from loving others. We are given the grace to become temples of justice and peace, carrying God’s Sacred Presence within us 

wherever we go.

Al reunirnos hoy para reafirmar nuestra fe en la Presencia Real de Cristo en la Eucaristía, se nos recuerda que también somos el Cuerpo de Cristo. La misión del Evangelio nos llama a ser Cristo para los demás. Hay tanto quebrantamiento y dolor en nuestro mundo. Muchas personas están perdidas y se sienten solas, marginadas y oprimidas, victimizadas y abusadas. Cada vez que recibimos el Cuerpo (y la Sangre) de Cristo, se nos pide que seamos lo que comemos. 

¿Estamos dispuestos a apartarnos de nuestras inquietudes y preocupaciones para poder ser Cristo para los demás?  El poder y la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía se hace  presente en nosotros. Al recibir esta presencia transformadora de Cristo, realmente podemos efectuar un cambio en las vidas de aquellos que conocemos. Podemos mostrarles el amor  incondicional y omnipresente de Dios y la belleza que puede provenir de amar a los demás. Se nos da la gracia de  convertirnos en templos de justicia y paz, llevando la sagrada Presencia de Dios dentro de nosotros dondequiera que  vayamos.

Madonna del Sasso Church is participating in the Caring for the Whole Person Initiative (CWPI) in the Diocese of  Monterey. Caring for the Whole Person is a statewide  initiative of the California Bishops and Catholic healthcare systems that enable a parish to provide community support and meaningful resources to individuals and families. 



will work with current MDS ministries such as:  Bereavement, Funeral, and Visitation of the Sick and Homebound.

will work towards helping families and parishioners prepare for and be supported during serious illness or end of life

will provide resources for parishioners to consider and prepare for end of life decisions in light of Catholic teaching.



CWPI of Madonna Del Sasso is offering our first  workshop on how to prepare an Advance Health Care Directive.
