Budget considerations make it advisable that if the Pan American Sanitary

Bureau increase its office wr institutional contribution to 7% instead of

thke;present

6%,

that this be done 1 January 1951 so that fudds may be set

aside for this purpose.

Although the point is not covered by the Decision quoted above, the Pan

American Union made the increase retroactive for all staff members parti-=

cipating in the plan at the time. This was done by increasing office

cmntributions standing to the credit of each staff member by one-sixth,

The Union recommends that the Pan American Sanitary Bureau do likewise,

which retroactive increase will cost the Bureau in-round figures,

$6,000o

.Recommendation. The Director recommends that the Pan American Sanitary

Bureau increase its contributions to the Pan American Union Pension Plan

to 7% of the salaries of participating staff members, and that this

in-crease be retroactive, and that these adjustments be made on

1

January

1951.

Resolution

The Director recommends the following resolution to effect these changes:

WHEREAS:

By action of the Council of the Organization of American States,

the Pan American Union has increased its contribution to the pension

fund from 6% to 7% of the salaries of participating staff members.

The Pan American Union has made this increase of contribution
