Allourhistoricallegacyofthisperiodwasorganizedand pub-lishedbyMiltonRuizandwillalwaysbepartofthehistory ofourspecialty. Ico-authoredthefirst articlepublishedby the‘Bulletin’alongwithProfessorIreneLorand-MetzeandDr. JulioRobertoCorreaontheimportanceofbonemarrowbiopsy inhematology,averywell-knownthemetoday,butverybig newsatthattime.1 _{Thefirstpublication ofDr. Miltonwas}

The creation and maintenanceof ascientific journal is a challengethat feworganizations canachieve inthelong term.Thescientificworldisverycompetitiveandincreasingly professional today and maintaining a vehicle forscientific communicationsrequiresresearcherstobelieveintheproject andsubmittheirresearchmanuscripts.Ontheotherhand, editors,co-editorsandpeer-reviewersarerequiredto main-tainthequalityofpapersincludingrejectingthosethatdonot havequalityorinterestwithinthejournal’seditorialpolicy. Transformingourjournal into aninternationalpublication, in English, and indexing it in the best primary electronic databases withgrowing numbers ofcitations and interna-tionalvisibilitywasadifficultaccomplishmentthatrequired hardwork,cooperationandthepowertoconvinceevensome withinourownscientificcommunity.TheRBHHintendstobe anothersourceofknowledge;itistheonlyjournalof Hemato-logyandTransfusionMedicineinthesouthernhemisphere. Researchers, and students from Latin America, including Brazil,theMiddleEast,Asia,amongothers,havetheRBHH asanotheroptionfortheirpublications.

Certainly, Milton Ruiz knows that there are still many difficulties to be overcome. His collaboration for over two decadesinthe‘Bulletin’andafterwardsintheRBHHoriginally

publishedinPortugueseandfrom2010inEnglish,was abso-lutelycrucial.Hisdecisiontoforgothis importantfunction wascertainlymature.TheABHHandallBrazilian hematolo-gistswillrememberhisworkandcredithimwiththemerit thathedeserves.TheRBHHwillalwayshavehisname indeli-blywrittenasEditorinChiefinitsfutureissues;heheldthis positionforsuchalong,almostuninterruptedperiod,formore thantenyears.Wealwayscountonhishelpandopinioninthe presentandfutureoftheRBHHandsendoursincerethanks andrecognitionforhisexcellentwork.
