Nota Prévia
A publicação Estatística do Medicamento 2005 é o relatório estatístico anual do INFARMED contendo
informação sobre as suas actividades e, especialmente, sobre o mercado de medicamentos em
Portugal. Esta publicação dá continuidade ao trabalho que tem vindo a ser desenvolvido desde 1994.
O seu objectivo é informar profissionais e instituições de saúde, indústria farmacêutica, doentes e
cidadãos em geral, sobre os dados que caracterizam o sector farmacêutico em Portugal.
A estrutura da Estatística do Medicamento 2005 é idêntica à estrutura das edições anteriores. Está
dividida em cinco grandes secções:
A primeira secção (capítulo 1) apresenta os dados macroeconómicos relativos ao sector do
medicamento em Portugal. Na secção seguinte (capítulo 2), apresentam-se diversos dados sobre
medicamentos, tais como, o número de medicamentos registados e comparticipados.
A terceira secção (capítulo 3) inclui dados sobre a distribuição de medicamentos.
A quarta secção (capítulos 4, 5 e 6) refere-se à dispensa de medicamentos, em ambulatório, no âmbito
do Serviço Nacional de Saúde, contendo dados desagregados a vários níveis.
Na última secção (capítulo 7) incluem-se dados sobre Farmacovigilância e Vigilância Farmacêutica.

Foreword
This publication is a continuation of the INFARMED annual statistical report providing information on the
activities of INFARMED and particularly on the marketing of medicines in Portugal. This edition is a
continuation of the work developed since 1994.
Its main objective is to inform healthcare professionals, health institutions, the pharmaceutical industry,
patients and the general public on data on the Portuguese pharmaceutical sector.
The structure of the present Medicines Statistics 2005 is largely identical to the previous publications.
The statistics are divided into five main sections:
The first section (chapter 1) presents macroeconomic data regarding the medicines area in Portugal. The
next section (chapter 2) deals with various data concerning medicines, such as the number of registered
and reimbursed medicines.
The third section (chapter 3) includes data concerning the distribution of medicines.
The fourth section (chapters 4, 5 and 6) specifies the sales of medicines; it contains data dispersed at
several levels regarding medicines dispense at ambulatory, within the scope of the National Health
Service.
The last section (chapter 7) provides data on Pharmacovigilance and Pharmaceutical Surveillance.
Medicines Statistics 2005 will also be available on the INFARMED’s home page at

regional information is often omitted in this publication, it can, however, be made available upon request
to the Information Centre on Medicines and Healthcare Products of INFARMED at
