Introduction
To create a SAGE account, and/or to submit proposals via SAGe, the associated institutions must be registered in SAGE (e.g., the institution where you work, or in which you want to conduct research).
This document is a step-by-step guide of how to request registration of an institution.
Registering a non-Brazilian Institution
There are two kinds of non-Brazilian Institutions in SAGe
- Non-Brazilian Higher Education and/or Research Institution, from now on referred to as “Non- Brazilian Research Institution”, for short.
- Non-Brazilian companies
Both are graphically represented by the symbol
Requesting the registration of a non-Brazilian Research Institution
To request the registration of a non-Brazilian Research Institution, please select option “Requests >
Registration of Research Institution/Company > Registration of non-Brazilian Research Institution/Company”
available from link “Requests” on the main SAGe menu, as shown below.
After clicking on the selected option, the following search screen will appear.
Please keep in mind that it is important to check whether the institution is already registered, to avoid creating two distinct registration records for the same institution.
To see if the institution is already registered, fill in one or more search fields in the Search form.
Select the option “Research Institution”.
3 Next, click on . SAGe will show the results of your search.
Important
For non-Brazilian institutions, it is recommended that you start your search filling in the fields of Country and City where the institution is housed, and part of the Institution’s name.
If the institution is not found, try to extend the search, e.g., by removing the city’s name but maintaining the country, since it may be already registered in a nearby city.
If the search process still does not return the Institution you want to register, then click on
The following screen will appear, prompting you to enter data necessary to register the Institution.
4 Start by filling in the fields of the “Basic Information” form.
Next, click on “Address”, and fill in the requested information.
FAPESP will check the City field you enter. Since there are many cities with the same name, it is recommended that you also fill the State/Province field, to disambiguate the information.
Finally, click on
SAGe will open a window in which you can add any comments you want to complement the information given, and that may be relevant to your request.
5 Click on . The following confirmation screen will appear.
You will receive a mail message from “[email protected]” that confirms that your request was received by FAPESP. The subject of this message will be - Confirmation of Request for Registration of Institution”. The figure below shows an example of a typical request acknowledgement message.

Requesting the registration of a non-Brazilian Company
To request the registration of non-Brazilian Company, please select option “Requests > Registration of Research Institution/Company > Registration of non-Brazilian Research Institution/Company” available from link “Requests” on the main SAGe menu, as shown below.
After clicking on the selected option, the following search screen will appear.
Please keep in mind that it is important to check whether the company is already registered, to avoid creating two distinct registration records for the same company.
Next, fill in one or more fields about the Company you want to search for.
Select option “Company”.
Next, click on . SAGe will show the results of your search.
