Propósito do Curso

• Apresentar a teologia de John Webster • Interagir com Webster e seus interlocutores

• Localizar Webster e sua importância para a teologia no século 20 e 21. • Refletir no caráter e labor do teólogo a partir de John Webster

Descrição do Curso

Este curso apresentará os principais movimentos da teologia de John Webster. Teólogo de ampla e excelente formação, Webster ganhou grande notoriedade ao assumir o posto de Lady Margarett Professor of Divinity em Oxford. Em sua palestra inaugural ele intitulou sua fala com: “Theological Theology.”O curso irá justamente aprofundar-se neste tema: O que faz da teologia algo estritamente teológico? Por que o teólogo não precisa morar ad infinitum em problemas de prolegomena? O que faz da razão Bíblica algo distinta?

Além destes problemas, nós iremos examinar o que é comumente chamado de duas fases no pensamento de John Webster. Alguns estudantes do pensamento do teólogo britânico descrevem a primeira fase do pensamento Websteriano como Barthiano. E uma segunda fase, depois de sua saída de Wycliffe College, como sendo mais Tomística. Esta tese será desafiada, mostrando uma forte continuidade no pensamento teológico original de Webster. Tal continuidade será demonstrada a partir da analise e comparação de textos comentatoriais e textos expositivos.

Tarefas

1. Leituras Preparatórias: Todos os alunos devem ler em sua totalidade antes da aula: Santidade (Lançamento em 2021 Ed. Fiel). A Cultura da Teologia (Lançamento em 2021 Vida Nova). As palestras serão baseadas nestes textos. Os PDFs destes livros serão disponibilizados aos alunos.

2. Leituras Obrigatórias Adicionais: Os alunos devem ler a totalidade da coleção de artigos selecionados abaixo após a aula. Após a leitura os alunos devem preparar uma resenha crítica de 3 páginas com espaçamento duplo para cada um dos

artigos. Todos os PDFs de artigos serão disponibilizados.

3. Apresentação: Dentre os artigos selecionados, cada aluno escolherá um dos artigos e ele deve escrever e apresentar este artigo para a turma. Esta apresentação deve ser de 20 minutos e nela devem estar explícitas: A tese de Webster, os

principais pontos de argumentação e quem são os interlocutores explícitos ou implícitos do texto.

Após a apresentação, vamos abrir para interação de 30 minutos com a turma.

4. Trabalho Final: Os alunos prepararão um artigo de pesquisa de aproximadamente 18 páginas em espaço duplo sobre um dos principais temas da teologia de Webster. O trabalho pode ser comparativo com outro teólogo contemporâneo ou pode

examinar seu uso de uma figura anterior na tradição teológica. Data de submissão a ser definida.
