prevalence and associated factors with the lack of breastfeeding upon discharge from hospital in a public maternity facility in Maceio, Alagoas, Bra- zil. It involved a cross-sectional study performed with women who had recently given birth at the moment of discharge from the maternity ward of a university hospital in the capital. Preva- lence ratios (PR) and confidence intervals of 95% (CI95%) were calculated by Poisson regression with the use of a hierarchical model. Approxi- mately 20% of mothers did not breastfeed. Smok- ing during pregnancy [PR = 5.20; (CI95% =1.75 to 15.33), p = 0.003]; complications during preg- nancy [PR =3.50; (CI95% =1.04 to 11.77), p = 0.042] and insufficient information about breast- feeding during prenatal care [PR = 5.44; (CI95% 1.78 to 16.67); p = 0.003] were the major negative factors associated with the lack of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding in the maternity ward was lower than ideal. Guidelines on smoking prevention and encouragement of breastfeeding must be high- lighted during prenatal care, especially for women with complications during pregnancy.

Abstract The scope of this article is to describe the food consumption and eating behavior of qui- lombola and non-quilombola adolescents from the rural area of Southwest Bahia. A cross-sec- tional study with 390 adolescents aged 10 to 19 years was conducted in 2015, using an adapted PeNSE and PNS questionnaire. Food consump- tion was assessed by the frequency of healthy and unhealthy food markers in the previous 7 days. Eating breakfast was used as a marker of healthy eating behavior and having meals while watch- ing TV as being unhealthy. Frequency distribu- tion was carried out and the differences between quilombola and non-quilombola groups were assessed using the chi-square test. The prevalence ratio (PR) estimated the association of food con- sumption and eating behavior and the variables of interest. Low fruit consumption (30.8%), veg- etables (44.3%) and milk (24.4%) was observed. Comparison between the groups revealed lower consumption of vegetables (PR = 0.73), fruit (PR = 0.67) and milk (PR = 0.68) among quilombola than among non-quilombola adolescents. Public policies targeted at nutritional assistance specific to rural adolescents are recommended, since bad eating habits can prevail throughout life and lead to poor health conditions.

Abstract The scope of this article is to analyze the quality of work life of the physical therapy course teachers in the city of Goiânia in the state of Goiás. It involved a cross-sectional study of 65 physical therapy teachers in Goiânia. The partic- ipants who had worked for less than six months in the profession and those who failed to fill out the questionnaire in full were excluded from the research. A socio-demographic and the Total Quality of Work Life (TQWL-42) questionnaire were used to assess the quality of work life. It was established that the teachers who taught in grad- uate courses and who held management positions presented significantly better averages than those who only taught in undergraduate courses. Sat- isfaction with income and with the teaching ac- tivity also showed significant results influencing the quality of work life of the participants. Work in positions and locations that allow greater au- tonomy, status and remuneration, as well as sub- jective evaluation of satisfaction with income and teaching work, influenced the quality of work life of physical therapy teachers.

Abstract This article aims to reflect on communi-

As an alternative to the transference mod- els and topical and segmented actions, we have proposed a communication itself conceived and carried out in accordance with the principles of SUS and not “just” to make them more visible. The universal right to communication addresses the right to information and the right to speech in public spaces for debate, technologically me- diated or not. The Equity in communication rec- ognizes that among the extreme concentration of material and symbolic wealth that characterizes Brazil, the word is one of the most conspicuous items, compromising democracy - which does not exist without plurality, recognition and vis- ibility of political individuals and the effective conquest of citizenship rights, including health. We are talking here about concentration of com- munication media, but not only that. There are many voices that find very adverse conditions to be heard in institutions and even at health coun- cils and conferences. Integrality, inspired by lev- els of health care, allows to reinforce the whole- ness of the communicative circuit, so important for the primacy that production (“the emitter pole”) holds in health practices. The debates and achievements that articulate the many faces of integrity and care also put in the foreground other principles that are so relevant to those who see communication as a dialogical relationship, as recognition of the wholeness and listening to others. Decentralization and participation, cross-cutting principles, are fundamentally linked to the deconcentration of power. As such, its conquest and exercise are achieved not only at councils and conferences, but at the daily actions of services and at other health institutions.

Lack of integration and formal mechanisms to promote integration between services and professionals was a recurring theme in the pa- tient interviewees and was also mentioned by some managers. The results illustrate a high degree of fragmentation across the system and a virtual lack of regionalized networks in the cases under question. Although it is recognized that the expansion of PHC services has had a very positive impact on the care of patients with chronic conditions, it is evident that without ef- fective coordination between the expansion and regionalization process and the creation of inte- grated networks these efforts are not sufficient to ensure that patients receive the necessary care. This points to the need to dissolve the prevail- ing dichotomy in this country, where the preven- tive or “preventivist” approach identified in the common sense of PHC is counterposed against a diagnostic/treatment/rehabilitation process strongly anchored in specialized in-patient care and out-patient services. One way of overcoming this dichotomy would be to rekindle the promo- tion of quality of life and health as a cross sec- toral policy and care approach that tackles the social determinants of health, exposure to risks, and hazards and their individual and collective consequences, harnessing the potential of health promotion as a strategy for the integrating pre- ventive, education, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation dimensions of RAS and regional and state systems and defining coherent models of healthcare provision.

Table 3 presents the prevalence of CMD ac- cording to chronic diseases, reported health prob- lems, accidents and violence, body mass index, and health self-evaluation. After age adjustment, women with medical diagnosis of arterial hyper- tension, heart disease, rheumatism/arthritis/ar- thritis, asthma/bronchitis/emphysema, tendon- itis/RSI/WRMD, and circulatory problem, and who reported headache, back pain, dizziness/ver- tigo, insomnia, and urinary problem had higher prevalence of CMD. Among chronic morbidities, the higher prevalence of mental disorders were observed in women with circulatory problem (PR = 2.58), tendonitis/RSI/WRMD (PR = 2.52), and rheumatism/arthritis/arthritis (PR = 2.48). Regarding health problems, women with in- somnia stood out by presenting 4.07 times more prevalence of CMD compared to those who did not mention this problem, followed by women with urinary problem (PR = 2.79) and by those who reported dizziness/vertigo (PR = 2.69). We observed a significant increase in the prevalence of CMD with the increasing number of chron- ic diseases and health problems. Having four or more chronic diseases increased in 7.69 times the occurrence of CMD and reporting five or more health problems accounted for 2.86 times more mental disorders. Women who have suffered vio- lence in the previous year showed a significantly higher prevalence of CMD (PR = 2.82) in rela- tion to the absence of this situation. Obese wom- en presented 1.67 times more CMD than eutro- phic women. Those who have self-rated health as good or bad/very bad presented, respectively, 2.80 times and 10.16 times more prevalence of common mental disorders, in comparison to the segment of adult women who self-rated health as excellent.

This highly relevant question requires re- flection: it is certainly one of the most difficult questions to answer. Firstly, because not every individual or actor is capable of defining a stra- tegic design. This praxis – thought and action – requires not only the legitimacy of those who indicate strategies and tactics, but also, specif- ically, the ability to carry out concrete analyses of situations and political insight regarding the most appropriate moment for the organization of, and intervention in, reality. Accumulated ex- perience and skills are fundamental to achieve effectiveness of action. Secondly, because isolated individuals or intellectuals are unable to answer this question, only collective individuals such as political parties or other organizations that have historical precedence and the ability to initiate action. It is the latter who deal with the dialectic of transparency/opacity 7 and are able to choose

Abstract This article set out to analyze studies on leisure activities among university students in the healthcare area. It conducted a search using the following key words: leisure and students, and their corresponding terms in Spanish and English in the Bireme database, which resulted in 32 ar- ticles at the end of the review. In the articles an- alyzed there was a predominance of the following leisure interests: sports, social, intellectual and artistic activities, with a greater number of arti- cles presenting experiences in sports. It was also noted that the intake of alcohol in the leisure con- text is often mentioned by this population group. There was a predilection for physical exercised/ sport during leisure time, compared to other lei- sure interests and little knowledge about any other possibilities for leisure. This article also discusses the need to develop strategies that promote leisure among these students, seeking to improve their quality of life. It is noteworthy that they are health professionals in the training phase and it is quite possible that their future orientations might be in- fluenced by their personal practices.

In addition, with regard to the biological/ physiological sphere, assured health care and so- cial welfare to secure care is fundamental and this need is not always remedied by the public power. Field research carried out in the prison system of Minas Gerais reveals a lack of physical, mental and social health care for most workers, and this reality becomes even more worrying when one understands that this condition is associated with professionals’ illness 24 .

back pain prevalence and associated factors in the last 12 months among adolescents in a city in the south of the State of Piauí. It was a cross-sec- tional study which included 1,112 adolescents aged 13-19 in the city of Caracol, Piauí. Demo- graphic, socio-economic, nutritional, behavioral and comorbidty characteristics were investigated. The outcome was the occurrence of low back pain (LBP) in the last 12 months. The outcome preva- lence was calculated in accordance with indepen- dent variables. The proportion of individuals with chronic LBP was calculated among adolescents with LBP in the last 12 months. Crude and ad- justed Poisson regression was used to estimate the prevalence ratio in the analysis of associated fac- tors. The prevalence of LBP in the last 12 months was 32.9%. According to the adjusted analysis, being female (PR = 1.75; 95%CI:1.45-2.10), be- ing aged 18-19 (PR = 1.27; 95%CI:1.01-1.62), having higher income (PR = 1.33; 95%CI:1.06- 1.67), having a job (PR 1.25 95%CI:1.02-1.53) and having minor psychiatric disorders (PR 1.51 95%CI: 1.25-1.82) were associated with LBP in the last 12 months. This study found a high prev- alence of LBP among adolescents in a poor city in the semiarid region of Northeast Brazil.

Abstract: This article seeks to discuss the relationship between the counterculture movement of the 1960s in the United States of America and popular music as fundamental for the establishment of the spiritual practice propagated by the Hare Krishna Movement. The cultural and political scene in which the Movement emerges in the United States of America is characterised by an openness to Hindu philosophy and a search for new lifestyles among young people. The social and cultural movements of the 1960s and the counterculture movement created the ideal context for the launch of the Hare Krishna spiritual practice, as well as other proposals for spirituality and religiosity from India. The involvement of the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) leader with bands such as The Beatles and counterculture icons such as Allen Ginsberg was instrumental in spreading its spiritual practice and alternative life proposal at that time. This involvement culminated in the organisation of a festival called Mantra Rock Dance, in San Francisco, a significant milestone both in the propagation of practice and in the

The abolishment of funding blocks without increasing resources is likely to weaken internal areas of the public health system, such as phar- maceutical services, as they are forced to compete with each other for resources. Although it is still too early to assess the full impact, we propose the following questions: (1) what will be the role of the Ministry of Health in inducing, formulating and regulating policy? (2) what will be manage- ment capacity and funding implications for lo- cal government? (3) to what extent will installed capacity with hard technology drain resources from other sectors? (4) how should striking re- gional disparities be addressed?

Abstract The scope of this article is to assess the oral health conditions and self-perceived chewing ability among the elderly seniors (≥ 80 years). Data from the FIBRA multicentric study were used. The sample consisted of 2,341 individuals with no cognitive impairment, aged ≥ 65 years, be- tween 2008 and 2009, where the elderly were sub- jected to data collection. Regarding the outcome, age was dichotomized into 65-79 and 80 and over. The association between longevity and the socio- demographic and behavioral variables, general and oral health and self-perceived chewing ability was assessed by Poisson regression. Complete data are now available for 2,126 seniors. The mean age was 70.91 (SD =± 4.11) years among the young elderly and 82.70 (SD =± 2.61) among the elderly seniors. The sample of individuals aged ≥ 80 years was 11.7%. Low education, single marital status and lack of work were associated with longevity, as well as self-reporting of having no natural teeth and difficulty or pain when chewing hard foods. The results suggest an association between lon- gevity with sociodemographic characteristics and oral health.

Abstract This article examines the factors asso- ciated with the notification of occupational ac- cidents by sentinel workers’ health centers in the municipality of Fortaleza in the northeast of Bra- zil. An analytical cross-sectional study was con- ducted of five sentinel workers’ health centers for serious and fatal occupational accidents. A total of 354 interviews were conducted with professionals responsible for notifying occupational accidents. Bivariate analysis was conducted using Pearson’s chi-square test and/or Fisher’s exact test using prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals, followed by stratified analysis and multivariate Poisson regression adopting the stepwise forward method. Variables that obtained a p-value of less than or equal to the chosen significance level (0.05) were maintained in the final model. Profes- sionals who had a greater number of years of work experience, had undertaken three training cours- es, had knowledge of policy directives concerning occupational accidents, were familiar with the SINAN notification form, were aware that occu- pational accidents are reportable, and discussed the theme of occupational accidents in the work- place were statistically more likely to notify occu- pational accidents. Education and training helps raise awareness among health professionals. The results show that the average cost of hos- pitalizations due to patient migrations at state, regional and national level was clearly higher than that of hospitalizations of patients residing in the health region. This is the result of a long history of agreements regarding hospital beds and mechanisms designed to improve access to referral services, which, to a certain extent, have ensured access at a microregional level and should therefore be regarded as a sign of cooper- ative capacity. This corroborates the findings of a previous study regarding the decentralization of the SUS in the context of the COAP and new CIRs using data from 2013 3 .
