Debaixo da denominação de Contrabando, ou Artigos prohlfnJos fe comprehenderao não fomente Armas, Peças de Anilharia, Arcabuzes, Morteiros, Petardos, Bombas, Granados, Salchichas, Carcaflas, Carretas de Pecas, Arrimos de Mofquetes, Bandolas, Polvora, Mechas, Salitre, Bailas, Piques, Efpadas, Capacetes, Elmos, Couraças, Alabardas, Aza- gayas. Coldres, Boldriés, Cavállos, e Arreios, mas também em geral todos os outros Artigos, que pofsão ter fido efpecificados como Contra bando em quaefquer precedentes 1 ratados concluidos pela Grande Bretan ha, ou por Portugal com outras Potências ; Porem Generös que não ten- hiio fido fiibricadüs em forma de Inftrumentos de Guerra, ou que não pofsão vir a sêlo, nao ferao reputados de Contrabando, e muito menos aquelles que já eftao fabricados, e deítinados para outros fins, os quaes todos nao ferao julgados de Contrabando, e poderão fer levados livremente pelos VaíTallos de Ambos os Soberanos, mefmo a Lugares pertencentes a hum Inimigo, á excepçáo fomente d’aquelles Lugares que eftao filiados, bloqueados, ou inveftidos por Mar ou por Terra.
ARTIGO XXIX.
No cafo que algumas Embarcações ou Navios de Guerra, ou Mercantes venhao a naufragar nas Coftas dos Dominios de qualquer das Altas Partes Contradantes, todas as porções das refferidas Embarcações ou Navios, ou da Armação, e pertences das mefmas aílim como dos Generös c Mercado rias que fe falvarem, ou o produfto dellas, ferao fielmente reftituidos, logo que feus Donos, ou feus Procuradores Legalmente Authorifados, os recla marem, pagando fomente as Defpezas feitas na Arrecadação dos m„fmos Generös, conforme o Direito de Salvação ajuftado entre Ambas as Altas Partes j exceptuando ao mefmo tempo os Direitos e Coftumes de cada Nação, de cuja abolição, ou modificação, fe tratara comtudo no cafo de ferem contrários ás Eftipulações do prelente Artigo ; e as Altas Partes Contraftantes interporão mutuamente a Sua Authoridade, para que fejão punidos feveramente aquelles dos Seus, VaíTallos, que fe approvietarem de femelhantes defgraças.

S )any Pirates or Sea-rovers whatfocver into any of their Havens, Ports, Cities, or Towns, or permit any of their Subjefts, Citizens, or Inha bitants, on either Part, to receive or protect them in their Ports, to harbour them in their Houfes, or to affift them in any Manner whatfoever ; but further, that they ihall caule all fuch Pirates and Sea-rovers, and all Perfons who ihall receive, conceal, or ailiit them, to be brought to con dign Puniniment for a I ’errnr and Example to others. And all their Ships, with the Goods or Merchandizes taken by them, and brought into the Ports belonging to either of the High Contrafting Parties, Ihall be ft'ized as far as they can be difcovered, and ihall be reftored to the Owners, or the Factors duly authorized or deputed by them in Writing, proper Evidence being firil given to prove the Property, even in cafe fuch EiFedts iliould have pail'ed into other Hands by Sale, if it be afcertained that the Buyers knew or might have known that they had been piratically taken.

For the future Security of Commerce and Friendililp between the .Subjects of His Britannic Majeily, and His Royal Highncfs the Prince Re gent of Portugal, and to the End that their mutual good Underilanding may be preferved from all Interruption and Dillurbance, it is concluded and agreed, that if at anyTime there ihould arifeany Difagreement, Breach o f Friendiliip, or Rupture between the Crowns of the High Contradling Parties, which God forbid, (which Rupture iliall not be deemed to exiil until the recalling or fending Home of the refpeftive AmbalFadors and Miniftcrs) the Subjedls of each of the Two Parties, refiding in the Domi nions of the other, ihall have the Privilege of remaining, and continuing their Trade therein, without any Manner of Interruption, fo long as they behave peaceably, and commit no Offence againit the Laws and Ordi nances ; and in cafe their Conduft iliould render them fufpedled, and the refpeftive Governments iliould be obliged to order them to re nove, the Term of 'I'welve Months ihall be allowed them for that Purpofe, in order that they may retire with their Effefts and Property, whether entruiled to Individuals, or to the State.
At the fame Time it is to be underflood that this Favour is not to be extended to thofe who ihall aft in any Manner contrary to the Eitabliihed Laws.

Para a fegurança futura do Commercio, c Amizade entre os ValTallosdc Sua Mageílade Britannica, c de Sua Alteza Real O Principe Regente de Portugal, e afim deque efta mutua boâ intelligencia poíTa fer prefervada dc toda a interrupqâo, e difturbio, Conveio-fe e ajuílou-fe, que fe em algum tempo fe fufeitar qualquer defintelligencia. Quebrantamento de Amizade, ou Rompimento entre as Coroas das Altas Partes Contractantes, o que Deos nao permitta (o qual Rompimento fó fe julgará exiítir depois do Chamamento, ou Defpedida dos Refpeâivos Embaixadores, e Miniítros) os Vaflallos de cada huma das Duas Partes, refidentes nos Dominios da üiura, terão o Privilegio de ficar, e continuar nelles o feu Commercio lem inter rupção alguma, em quanto fe conduzirem pacificamente, e não cometterem Oflenfa contra as Leys, e Ordenaqóes; e no cafo que a iua Condutta os faça fufpeitos, e os Refpe£tivos Governos fejaô obrigados a manda-los lahir, fe lhes Concederá o termo de hum anno para elle fim, cm ordem a que elles fe poflao retirar com o» feus Efteitos, e Propriedade, quer eftejão confiados a Individuos Particulares, quer ao Eltado.
Deve porem entender fe que elle favor fe não extende áquelles que tiverem de algum modo procedido contra as Leys Eítabelecidas.
