De acordo com a revisão de literatura realizada, a presente investigação é a primeira a analisar a influência do polimorfismo FokI nas adaptações de massa magra e força muscular em respostas ao TR em mulheres idosas.

Diante dos resultados encontrados neste estudo, conclui-se que não houve associação entre o polimorfismo FokI no gene VDR massa livre de gordura e força muscular. Em relação às adaptações de massa magra e força muscular em resposta a um programa de 24 semanas de TR em idosas brasileiras, sugere-se que é possível que o polimorfismo investigado seja uma das variações genéticas que contribuem para o aumento da força e massa muscular, uma vez que as voluntárias portadoras do alelo f demonstraram valores mais baixos de MLGA e PT relativo na linha de base, entretanto, quando submetidas à intervenção apresentaram maiores ganhos.

Enfatiza-se que este tipo de investigação é importante, pois possibilita a descoberta e o desenvolvimento de novos conhecimentos, os quais permitirão intervenções antecipadas de forma precisa e eficiente nas pessoas predispostas à sarcopenia, além de contribuir para um envelhecimento saudável com autonomia e melhor qualidade de vida.
