APELO CATÓLICO 2021
“Tempo de Reunir, Tempo de Curar, Tempo de Amar” - O Apelo Católico (anteriormente, as Caridades Católicos) de 2021 já foi oficialmente encerrado. Este ano, como uma comunidade paroquial, recebemos 445 doações de $25,268.50 e 9 promessas de $3,607.50, para um total final de $28,876.00. No ano passado, a Paróquia de Santo Cristo teve 385 doações totais de $29,643.00. Embora não tenhamos superado o total do ano passado, ultrapassamos a nossa meta em $1,084.60, o que significa que a nossa paróquia receberá metade disso, $542.30 como um prêmio da diocese, que será usado para as renovações contínuas do edifício da igreja. Em nome dos necessitados da Diocese de Fall River, uma sincera gratidão pela sua generosidade a esta digna causa que apóia muitos apostolados e ministérios diocesanos.

PLENÁRIA ~ A Penitenciária Apostólica (Santa Sé) anunciou que a celebração do Primeiro Dia Mundial dos Avós e dos Idosos, a 25 de julho, vai contar com indulgência plenária. A indulgência é definida no Código de Direito Canónico (cf. cân. 992) e no Catecismo da Igreja Católica (n. 1471) como “a remissão, perante Deus, da pena temporal devida aos pecados cuja culpa já foi apagada,” que o crente obtém em
“certas e determinadas condições pela ação da Igreja.”
A possibilidade de obtenção de indulgência plenária, sob as condições tradicionais na doutrina católica (confissão sacramental, comunhão eucarística e oração nas intenções do Sumo Pontífice) estende-se à
celebração presidida pelo Papa e às que vão decorrer em todo o mundo, bem como a quem dedique tempo para “visitar real ou virtualmente os irmãos idosos necessitados ou em dificuldade.”
O Papa vai presidir à Missa, com avós e idosos da Diocese de Roma, no dia 25 de julho, pelas 10:00 AM (hora de Roma) na Basílica de São Pedro, com participação limitada. O Dia Mundial dos Avós e dos Idosos será celebrado todos os anos no quarto domingo do mês de Julho.

CATHOLIC APPEAL 2021
“Time to Gather, Time to Heal, Time to Love” - The books to the 2021 Catholic Appeal have officially closed. This year, as a parish community, we received 445 donations of $25,268.50 and 9 pledges of $3,607.50, for a grand final total of $28,876.00. Last year, Santo Christo Parish had 385 total donations of $29,643.00. While we did not beat last year’s total, we did surpass our goal by $1,084.60, which means that our parish will be receiving half of that, $542.30 as a financial gift from the diocese, which will be used towards our continuing church renovations. On behalf of the needy of the Dio- cese of Fall River, thank you for your generous donations to this worthy cause which supports so many of our diocesan agencies and ministries.

SANTO CHRISTO YOUTH MINISTRY
The Santo Christo Youth Ministry Program will hold a summer Car Wash/Barbecue for all interested youth in grades 7 to 12. This event will be held in our parking lot on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 10 AM to 2 PM. We welcome any youth, including youth from other parishes, to this event. Come and join the fun and the food. This will be the start of our Youth Ministry program for the 2021/22 year.
FIRST WORLD DAY OF GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY WILL HAVE PLENARY INDULGENCE ~ The Apostolic Peniten- tiary (Holy See) announced that the celebration of the First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, on July 25, will have a plenary indulgence. Indulgence is defined in the Code of Canon Law (cf. can.
992) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 1471) as “the remis- sion before God of temporal punishment for sins whose guilt is already forgiven,” which the believer obtains “under certain and defined condi- tions by the assistance of the Church.”
The possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence, under the traditional conditions in Catholic doctrine (sacramental confession, Eucharistic com- munion and prayers for the intentions of the Holy Father) extends to the celebration presided over by the Pope and to those that will take place throughout the world, as well as to those who devotes time to “actually or virtually visiting their elderly brothers and sisters in need or in diffi- culty.”
The Pope will preside at a Mass, with grandparents and elderly from the Diocese of Rome, on July 25, at 10:00 AM (Rome time) at St. Peter’s Basilica, with limited participation. The World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be observed every year on the fourth Sunday of the month of July.

QUO VADIS DAYS 2021
Quo Vadis is an initiative of the Fall River Diocesan Office of Voca- tions, for young men ages 14-18. It will give you an opportunity to deepen your faith, learn how to discern your vocation, and grow in greater fraternity with other young men from our Diocese. CATHOLIC YOUTH DAY
On Saturday, August 14, the Diocese is sponsoring a day-long event for young people with Bishop daCunha on Martha’s Vineyard. The day is free for participants and includes bus transportation, ferry ride to Oak Bluffs, lunch, opportunity to visit shops, activities, talks, music, adoration and Mass with the Bishop.
