Welcome To Holy Rosary Parish Dear Friends,

As more and more people are making their way back to in-

person Mass, I have noticed there are quite a few new

faces. Perhaps you have

recognized this as well. Please help me make newcomers feel at home here at Holy Rosary. If you are someone new to the parish, our staff would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and share a little about our ministries and ways you can become more involved in the life of the

parish. Welcome to Holy Rosary!

Christ’s peace, Fr. Bernie

Queridos Amigos,

Bernie

Summary of the Diocesan Pastoral Council Meeting, May 8, 2021

The Diocesan Pastoral Council met on May 8, 2021 at the Catholic Center in Evansville. The DPC is a consul- tative body to Bishop Siegel.

Following Mass, Bishop Siegel welcomed members and led the Council in prayer. Mr. Eric Girten, Director of the Office of Family and Life then offered a presenta- tion and led a discussion about fostering the culture of life in our parishes, communities and diocese. He men- tioned several Office of Family and Life programs and initiatives that work to build up the Gospel of Life, such as Walking with Moms in Need, which seeks to increase parish outreach to pregnant and parenting women facing difficulties.

The meeting concluded with some final comments from the Bishop and an opportunity for Q&A. The date of the next meeting is Saturday, August 21, 2021.

Basket Raffle Donations for Parish Feastival Fundraiser

You may have noticed the Christmas Trees in the back of Church. No, we are not getting ready for Christmas in July. As part of our Parish Feastival on Sunday, Oc- tober 3 we will be having a Basket Raffle. This will be similar to the one we have at the Summer Social, but on a smaller scale. We are looking for donations from parishioners of either a ready made theme basket or

for items to go in a theme basket. There is a wish list for items we would like on the two Christmas Trees in the back of Church. If you would like to donate an item or items just take that appropriate tag off the tree and return it to the back of Church or the Parish Hall with the

item/items. Thanks in advance for your help. We would like all items by the beginning of August.

Brute & Bilskie Award Nominations

It’s time to select our 2021Brute & Bilskie Award Winners. We are asking for your help in nominating an individual or couple who would be a good candi- date(s) to receive either one of these honors this year.

The Brute Society, named after the first Bishop of our Diocese, Simon Brute, is an honorary association of Southwestern Indiana Catholic lay persons. It was created by the Diocese several years ago to honor those nominated by their parishes as outstanding models of Christian Stewardship throughout their lives. Service could be to other charities/institutions besides Holy Rosary as well.

The Bilskie Award is a Holy Rosary Award named after our founding pastor, Monsignor Bilskie, to rec- ognize parishioners who truly exemplify the word

“Stewardship” on their service of Time, Talent, and Treasure to Holy Rosary Parish. Please write on the ballot on the back your nominees for each award, and why you feel they are a worthy candidate. We have attached the list of past winners. Please note that you can receive both the Bilskie and Brute Awards in your lifetime. We would like all nomi- nations returned no later than Tuesday, July 6.

You may mail, email, call, or drop in the collection your selections.

Blessings Always,

Christine Gilles [email protected] Stewardship & Development Director

The Eucharist in Scripture Bible Study

- Join the Saturday morning Bible Study group as they dive into the Eucharist and how we find it in Scripture. In the Eu- charist in Scripture, discover God’s plan as it is ex- pressed through the Bible and the Mass. This six-lesson study, presented by Dr. Scott Hahn, will unlock the meaning of covenant, sacrifice, and sacrament as under- stood in the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation. This group will meet Saturdays beginning July 10th from 7:30 - 9:30a.m. in the Parish Hall. The cost is $26.00 for the study materials. Stewardship food for thought:

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Weekend of June 26/27, 2021 In today’s second reading, St.

Paul teaches the community at Corinth about a spir- ituality of giving. He urges them to give and helps them understand that through their generosity, they will in turn be recipients of a spiritual abundance.

They will receive from those who are the benefi- ciaries of their own giving a reciprocal gift that amounts to an equality of giving that deepens their relationship with Christ Jesus. A good reflection this week would be to think of the ways your own life has been enriched by your generosity. How might you have reaped a spiritual abundance through your own generous behavior?
