Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Targus Bluetooth® Laser Rechargeable Notebook Mouse. This mouse has a special EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) technology that provides faster data transmission rate and allows multiple Bluetooth devices running without conflict.

Use the two AAA-size rechargeable NIMH batteries (supplied)

NOTE: WHILE THE MOUSE IS FUNCTIONING, NO LASER LIGHT IS VISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE EMITTER HOLE WHILE THE MOUSE IS ACTIVE.

To determine if the laser mouse is on and functioning is by moving the mouse to see if the cursor is moving. The mouse should be paired with the computer before it operates. The scroll wheel will light up for approximately 1 sec. when the power is turned on.

1. Charge the mouse for at least 8 hours before using it. And please make sure only rechargeable batteries (the ones that come with your product) are used.

2. Your computer needs to stay powered on for the mouse to charge. Follow these steps to prevent your computer from going in to Standby or Hibernate:

a) Click “Start” b) Click “Control Panel”

c) Click “Performance and Maintenance” (Skip in Classic View) d) Click “Power Options”

e) Make sure “System Standby:” and “System Hibernates:” under “Plugged in” are set to “Never”

3. If you use your notebook computer’s LCD monitor, please do not close the lid. (Please ignore this step if you use an external monitor with your notebook lid closed.)

Initial Configuration

Before you can begin using Bluetooth connectivity on your computer and other Bluetooth devices, you must perform some initial setup tasks.

The Targus Bluetooth Laser Rechargeable notebook mouse is designed to work with the four major software stack (protocol) standards: WIDCOMM, Toshiba, Microsoft and Mac OS X. Please check your computer’s documentation to see which software stack your computer has. Please contact your system vendor if your system does not support one of the following Bluetooth software standards.

Using the enhanced Resolution feature

This bluetooth laser mouse has a special enhanced resolution feature. By activating this feature, the laser mouse will increase its tracking sensitivity from 800 CPI to 1600 CPI. This will improve the precision of the mouse pointer for fine details with increased speed. Press both the scroll and right key when the mouse is on , the red LED in the scroll wheel will light up around 3 secs to proceed resolution switching. When the LED is off, it indicates the resolution switching is successful.

Bluetooth Software: WIDCOMM

1. Go to the Bluetooth Places icon located on your desktop or in the system tray and double click, then click Bluetooth setup wizard.

NOTE: TO CONTINUOUSLY CHARGE THE BATTERIES VIA THE USB CHARGE CABLE, YOUR COMPUTER MUST BE ON AND AWAKE . FOR BEST RESULTS , TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER ’S POWER MANAGEMENT / SLEEP MODE FEATURE WHILE CHARGING THE MOUSE.

2. The Bluetooth configuration screen will prompt. Please follow the onscreen instructions. Click Next to continue.

4. Click Next to continue setup.

5. Please select the service which the bluetooth device offers. (Default setting allows the most coverage. It is recommend to keep as default). Click Next.

6. Installation will perform setup and click Next when setup is completed.

7. Please turn on the mouse and press the connection ID button located at the bottom of the mouse until the light in the middle scroll wheel blinks red light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continue pairing.

8. The confirmation window will appear as the system installs the drivers. Click OK. When this is done, the mouse should

(There may be one or more different bluetooth device detected.) If the mouse is not detected, please make sure the power is on and in discoverable mode. Press Search

Again to re-pair the device.

9. Once the pairing search is complete, the bluetooth mouse icon should appear on the screen as shown. Setup is complete. You may choose to close the window, or continue pairing other bluetooth devices.

Bluetooth Software: TOSHIBA

How to check your version of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack 1. Launch the Bluetooth Manager.

2. Select the Help menu. 3. Select About.

3. Please turn on the mouse and press the connection ID button located at the bottom of the mouse until the light in the middle scroller wheel blinks red light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continue pairing.

4. The computer will now search for the bluetooth mouse and other bluetooth devices. Please wait until the search is completed.

5. Please choose the device you wish to connect. There maybe more then one bluetooth device detected. Select Targus bluetooth mouse and click Next to continue. If the mouse is not detected, please make sure the mouse is in discoverable mode and click Refresh.

6. The computer will begin connecting with the mouse. If an authentication is required, a dialogue will appear. The mouse does not require a passkey (PIN code).

7. Please follow the on-screen instructions to continue setting up your bluetooth mouse. Click OK.

8. You may want to create a connection name or change icon for the device. Once completed, press Next to finalize setup.

9. The connection is established and setup is complete. The mouse is ready to use. If the connection is not successful, please click Back and search the device again. Click Finish to exit setup.

10. The following screen should show the newly added mouse connection. You may want to continue to add other bluetooth device or close the window.

Bluetooth Software: MICROSOFT

Make sure the Bluetooth radio is turned on. If necessary, check your computer’s manual to determine if the radio is activated. To add the Targus mouse, proceed with the following steps:

1. Double click on the Bluetooth Manager icon in the system tray.

2. This window should appear. Click Add to launch the bluetooth device wizard.

3. Please turn on the mouse and press the connection ID button located at the bottom of the mouse until the light in the middle scroller wheel blinks red light (discoverable mode). Check the box “my device is set up and ready to be found” then click Next to continue.

5. Please choose the device you wish to connect. There maybe more then one bluetooth device detected. Select Targus Bluetooth Mouse and click Next to continue. If the mouse is not detected, please make sure the mouse is in discoverable mode and click search again.

6. The mouse does not require a passkey (PIN code). Please check the “don’t use a passkey” circle and click Next to continue.

7. Windows will begin connecting with the bluetooth mouse. Please wait until this process is complete.

Bluetooth Software: Mac

1. Go to the Bluetooth icon located on your desktop or in the system bar and click the icon to begin setup. Select “Turn Bluetooth On” to enable the device.

2. Scroll down the list to “Set up Bluetooth Device...” and select the option.

3. Bluetooth Setup Assistant will begin. Please follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Please select “mouse” and click continue to proceed with setup. Please make sure your mouse is in “discoverable” mode. To enable “discoverable” mode, turn on the mouse and press the connection ID button located at the bottom of the device until the light in the middle scroll wheel blinks red light.

5. Your computer will begin to search for the mouse. Once the mouse is found, it will show up in the list. Highlight the mouse in the list you wish to connect and press continue to proceed with setup.

6. The bluetooth mouse will now begin pairing. Click

Operating Hints

• Avoid using the mouse on a metal surface. Metals, such as iron, aluminum or copper, shield the radio frequency transmission and may slow down the mouse response time or cause the mouse to fail temporarily.

Mouse Power Management

• To power the mouse on and off, slide the on/off switch at the bottom of the mouse to the desired position.

• The mouse will enter a suspend mode at the same time your computer does. To activate the mouse, press any mouse button, or simply move the mouse. Please note that it will take about 2 seconds to wake up.

• If your computer has a metal case that contains aluminum or magnesium, use the mouse to the side. The display panel may interfere with the radio frequency signal if you use the mouse directly in front of the display.

NOTE: WHILE THE MOUSE IS FUNCTIONING, NO LASER LIGHT IS VISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE EMITTER HOLE WHILE THE MOUSE IS ACTIVE.

• The best way to tell whether a laser mouse is on and functioning is by moving the mouse to see if the cursor is moving. This product will not work until you paired up the mouse with the bluetooth.

• During the operation, the Power Saving feature allows the mouse to go into “sleep mode” after 5 minutes of inactivity. Click any mouse button or move the mouse for about 2 seconds to re-activate the mouse.

• The scroll wheel will light up (red) for approximately 1 sec. when the power is turned on.

• Scroller Wheel will glow when the power is low. To recharge the mouse, plug in the USB Recharging Cable to the mouse, and plug the USB tip to the computer. The mouse is opera-tional while charging.

Troubleshooting

The mouse is not working.

• Make sure that the polarity of the batteries is correct. The positive (+) and negative (-) ends of each battery must match the positive (+) and negative (-) connections in the battery housing.

• Make sure the batteries are charged. • Verify that the computer is Bluetooth enabled. • Verify that the device drivers are installed:

1. Click Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ System/ Hardware/ Device

2. Check under “Bluetooth Devices” that a “Targus Bluetooth Laser Notebook Mouse” is installed

• Paired devices are always displayed in My Bluetooth Places, even if the mouse is out of range or not powered up.

• Verify that the remote member of the pair is within range, and powered up, and then attempt the connection again.

Safety Measures

• To avoid possible eye damage, never point the mouse’s laser at people, especially their faces, or look directly into the mouse’s laser beam.

• Avoid pointing the mouse’s laser beam at a mirror or other highly reflective surface.

• Keep the mouse away from young children. • Never view the mouse’s laser beam using telescopic

devices, such as a microscope or binoculars.

• Any attempt to disassemble, adjust or repair the presenter may result in exposure to laser light or other safety hazards.

Erstkonfiguration

Bevor Sie die Bluetooth-Verbindung zu Ihrem Computer und anderen Bluetooth-Geräten erstmals benutzen können, müssen Sie einige Einstellungen vornehmen.

Die aufladbare Targus Bluetooth-Notebook-Lasermaus ist für den Betrieb mit den vier wichtigsten Software (Protokoll)-Standards vorgesehen: WIDCOMM, Toshiba, Microsoft und MacOS X. Informieren Sie sich bitte anhand Ihrer Computer-dokumentation, welchen Standard Ihr Computer verwendet. Wenden Sie sich bitte an den Verkäufer Ihres Systems, falls dieses keinen der folgenden Bluetooth-Softwarestandards unterstützt.

Benutzung der erweiterten Auflösungsfunktion

Diese Bluetooth-Lasermaus verfügt über eine spezielle erweiterte Auflösungsfunktion. Wenn diese Funktion aktiviert wird, erhöht sich die Abtastempfindlichkeit der Maus von 800 CPI auf 1600 CPI. Dies verbessert die Präzision des Mauszeigers für die Anzeige feiner Details bei erhöhter Geschwindigkeit. Drücken Sie bei eingeschalteter Maus gleichzeitig das Scrollrad und die rechte Maustaste. Die rote LED im Scrollrad leuchtet daraufhin ca. 3 Sekunden lang auf und es erfolgt eine Auflösungsumschaltung. Wenn die LED erlischt, bedeutet dies, dass die Umschaltung erfolgreich war.

HINWEIS: UM DIE AKKUS ÜBER DAS USB-LADEKABEL KONTINUIERLICH AUFZULADEN, MUSS IHR COMPUTER EINGESCHALTET UND AKTIVIERT SEIN. UM OPTIMALE ERGEBNISSE ZU ERZIELEN, SOLLTEN SIE WÄHREND DES AUFLADENS DER AKKUS DIE ENERGIEVERWALTUNG/SLEEP-MODUS-FUNKTION IHRES COMPUTERS AUSSCHALTEN.

2. Daraufhin erscheint der Bluetooth-Konfigurationsbildschirm. Befolgen Sie nun die Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm. Klicken Sie Next (Weiter), um fortzufahren.

7. Schalten Sie die Maus ein, drücken Sie dann die Verbindungstaste unten an der Maus bis das Licht in der mittleren Scrolltaste rot blinkt (Erfassungsmodus). Klicken Sie Next (Weiter), um die Maus zu synchronisieren.

8. Das Bestätigungsfenster erscheint, wenn das System die Treiber installiert. Klicken Sie auf OK. Anschließend sollte die Maus betriebsbereit sein. Die Bluetooth-Maus wurde damit erfolgreich installiert.

(Unter Umständen werden ein oder mehr verschiedene Bluetooth-Geräte erkannt). Sollte die Maus nicht erkannt werden, überprüfen Sie bitte, ob sie eingeschaltet ist und sich im Erfassungsmodus befindet. Drücken Sie auf Search Again (Erneut suchen), um das Gerät erneut zu synchronisieren.

9. Nach Abschluss der Synchronisierung sollte das Bluetooth-Maussymbol wie gezeigt auf dem Bildschirm erscheinen. Damit ist die Einstellung abgeschlossen. Sie können das Fenster nun schließen oder weitere Bluetooth-Geräte synchronisieren.

7. Befolgen Sie bitte die Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm, um die Konfiguration der Bluetooth-Maus fortzusetzen. Klicken Sie auf OK.

8. Sie können nun einen Verbindungsnamen vergeben oder ein anderes Symbol für das Gerät wählen. Klicken Sie dann auf Next (Weiter), um die Konfiguration abzuschließen.

9. Damit ist die Verbindung hergestellt und die Konfiguration abgeschlossen. Die Maus ist nun betriebsbereit. Sollte keine Verbind-ung hergestellt worden sein, klicken Sie bitte auf Back (Zurück) und wiederholen die Gerätesuche. Klicken Sie auf Finish (Fertig stellen), um den Vorgang zu beenden.

10. Die neu hinzugefügte Mausverbindung sollt im folgenden Bildschirm erscheinen. Sie können nun weitere Bluetooth-Geräte hinzufügen oder das Fenster schließen.

Betriebshinweise

• Vermeiden Sie es, die Maus auf einer Metalloberfläche zu benutzen. Metalle wie Eisen, Aluminium oder Kupfer schirmen Funkfrequenzübertragungen ab und bewirken, dass die Maus langsamer oder zeitweise gar nicht reagiert.

Energiesparfunktion

• Um die Maus ein- und auszuschalten, bringen Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter an der Maus in die gewünschte Stellung. • Die Maus wechselt gleichzeitig mit Ihrem Computer in einen Ruhezustandsmodus. Um sie zu reaktivieren, bewegen Sie sie einfach oder betätigen eine Taste. Beachten Sie bitte, dass die Reaktivierung ca. 2 Sekunden dauert.

• Falls Ihr Computer ein Gehäuse hat, das Aluminium oder Magnesium enthält, sollten Sie die Maus seitlich davon benutzen. Falls Sie die Maus direkt vor dem Bildschirm benutzen, kann sich die Anzeige störend auf die Funkfrequenz des Signals auswirken.

HINWEIS: WÄHREND DES MAUSBETRIEBS IST MIT BLOßEM AUGE KEIN LASERLICHT ZU SEHEN. SEHEN SIE BEI AKTIVER MAUS NICHT DIREKT IN DIE SENDERÖFFNUNG.

• Um festzustellen, ob eine Lasermaus eingeschaltet und betriebsbereit ist, bewegen Sie sie einfach und beobachten, ob der Cursor reagiert. Dieses Gerät funktioniert erst, nachdem es mit der Bluetooth-Funktion synchronisiert wurde.

• Während des Betriebs ermöglicht es die Energiesparfunk-tion, Maus nach 5 Minuten Inaktivität in den „Sleep-Modus“ zu versetzen. Um die Maus zu reaktivieren, betätigen Sie eine Taste oder bewegen die Maus für etwa 2 Sekunden. • Um Energie zu sparen, sollten Sie die Maus auf Reisen oder bei Nichtbenutzung ausschalten.

• Beim Einschalten leuchtet das Scrollrad leuchtet für ca. 1 Sekunde (rot) auf.

Störungsbeseitigung

Die Maus funktioniert nicht

• Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Polarität der Akkus korrekt ist. Der positive (+) und der negative (-) Pol jedes Akkus muss mit dem positiven (+) und negative (-) Pol im Akkufach übereinstimmen.

Sicherheitsvorkehrungen

Notas de funcionamiento para el ratón inalám-brico con función de recarga mediante cable USB

1. Cargue el ratón durante aproximadamente 8 horas antes de utilizarlo. Asegúrese de utilizar sólo pilas recargables (aquellas proporcionadas con su producto).

2. Su ordenador necesita estar encendido para que el ratón se cargue. Siga estos pasos para evitar que su ordenador se ponga en Espera o Hibernación:

Configuración inicial

Antes de usar la conectividad Bluetooth del ordenador y otros dispositivos Bluetooth, debe realizar ciertos pasos de configuración inicial.

El ratón láser Bluetooth recargable de Targus está diseñado para funcionar con los cuatro estándares principales de software (protocolo): WIDCOMM, Toshiba, Microsoft y Mac OS X. Consulte la documentación del ordenador para averiguar el software que utiliza su ordenador. Póngase en contacto con su proveedor si el sistema no admite uno de los siguientes estándares de software Bluetooth.

Uso de la función de mejora de resolución

Este ratón láser Bluetooth cuenta con una función especial de mejora de resolución. Al activarla, la sensibilidad de control del ratón láser aumenta de 800 CPP a 1600 CPP. Esto mejora la precisión del puntero del ratón con un mayor detalle al aumentar la velocidad. Al pulsar el botón de desplazamiento y el botón derecho con el ratón encendido, el LED rojo de la rueda de desplazamiento se ilumina durante 3 segundos mientras se cambia la resolución. El LED se apaga para indicar que el cambio de resolución ha tenido lugar.

Software Bluetooth: WIDCOMM

1. Vaya al icono Sitios Bluetooth situado en el escritorio o en la bandeja del sistema y haga doble clic; a continuación, seleccione el asistente de instalación de Bluetooth.

Asegúrese de que está activada la radio Bluetooth. Si es necesario, consulte el manual del ordenador para determinar si la radio está activada. Para añadir el ratón Targus, proceda como se indica a continuación:

1. Haga doble clic en el icono Bluetooth Manager (Administrador de Bluetooth) de la bandeja del sistema.

2. Aparecerá esta ventana. Haga clic en Add para iniciar el asistente de instalación de Bluetooth.

Consejos de uso

• Evite usar el ratón sobre superficies metálicas. Los metales como el hierro, aluminio o cobre bloquean la transmisión de radiofrecuencia y pueden ralentizar la respuesta del ratón o hacer que éste falle temporalmente.

Administración de energía del ratón

• Para encender y apagar el ratón, mueva el interruptor de la parte inferior del ratón a la posición deseada.

• El ratón entrará en modo suspendido al mismo tiempo que el ordenador. Para activar el ratón, muévalo o pulse uno de sus botones. El ratón tardará unos 2 segundos en activarse. • Si el ordenador tiene una caja metálica que contiene aluminio o magnesio, aparte el ratón a un lado. El monitor puede interferir con la señal de radiofrecuencia si utiliza el ratón delante de él.

NOTA: CUANDO EL RATÓN ESTÁ EN FUNCIONAMIENTO, LA LUZ LÁSER QUE EMITE NO ES VISIBLE A SIMPLE VISTA. TENGA CUIDADO DE NO MIRAR DIRECTAMENTE DENTRO DEL PUNTO EMISOR DEL LÁSER MIENTRAS EL RATÓN ESTÁ ACTIVO. • La mejor manera de saber si un ratón láser está encendido y en funcionamiento es moverlo y comprobar si el cursor se mueve. Este producto no funcionará hasta que empareje el ratón con el receptor Bluetooth.

• Mientras se utiliza, la función de ahorro de energía pone el ratón en “modo de reposo” al transcurrir 5 minutos sin actividad. Pulse un botón o mueva el ratón durante unos 2 segundos para reactivarlo.

• La rueda de desplazamiento se iluminará (en rojo) durante 1 segundo cuando se encienda el ratón.

• La rueda de desplazamiento brillará cuando las pilas tengan poca energía. Para recargar el ratón, conecte el cable de recarga USB al ratón y conecte la clavija USB al ordenador. El ratón se puede utilizar mientras se recarga.

Solución de problemas

El ratón no funciona.

• Compruebe la correcta polaridad de las pilas. Los extremos positivo (+) y negativo (-) de cada pila deben coincidir con las conexiones positivas (+) y negativas (-) del compartimento de las pilas. • Compruebe que las pilas están cargadas.

• Verifique que el ordenador está equipado para Bluetooth. • Verifique que los drivers del dispositivo están instalados: 1. Haga clic en Inicio/ Configuración/ Panel de control/ Sistema/

2. En “Dispositivos Bluetooth”, compruebe que “Targus Bluetooth Laser Notebook Mouse” está instalado

• Los dispositivos pareados aparecen siempre en Mis sitios Bluetooth, aunque el ratón esté fuera de alcance o apagado.

• Verifique que el dispositivo remoto del par está dentro del alcance y encendido, y vuelva a intentar la conexión.

Medidas de seguridad

• Para evitar posibles daños oculares, no apunte el láser del ratón hacia las personas, especialmente a la cara, ni mire directamente dentro del punto emisor del láser.

• Evite apuntar el haz láser del ratón a un espejo u otra superficie reflejante.

• Mantenga el ratón alejado de los niños pequeños. • No mire el haz láser del ratón con dispositivos telescópicos como un microscopio o prismáticos.

• Cualquier intento de desmontar, ajustar o reparar el ratón puede producir la exposición a la luz láser u otros riesgos de seguridad.

Toutes nos félicitations ! Vous venez d'acheter la souris laser rechargeable Bluetooth® pour notebook de Targus. Cette souris intègre une technologie EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) spéciale offrant des taux de transfert de données plus rapides et permettant le fonctionnement simultané de plusieurs périphériques Bluetooth sans le moindre conflit.

Installation des piles (fournies)

Utilisez les deux piles NIMH rechargeables AAA (fournies).

Retirez le cache du compartiment des piles situé sur la face supérieure de la souris. Pour ce faire, faites-le glisser tout en appuyant sur le bouton de déblocage situé sur la face supérieure de la souris.

Insérez les piles en vous assurant que les bornes positive (+) et négative (-) de chaque pile correspondent aux indicateurs de polarité imprimés dans le compartiment des piles.

Pour déterminer si la souris laser est allumée, il vous suffit de la bouger et de vérifier si le curseur se déplace en conséquence. La souris ne doit pas être pairée avec l'ordinateur avant sa mise en fonctionnement. La molette de défilement s'allume pendant environ 1 s lorsque la souris est allumée.

Consignes d’utilisation pour les souris sans fil rechargeables par câble USB

1. Chargez la souris pendant au moins 8 heures avant de l’utiliser. Assurez-vous que seules les piles rechargeables (livrées avec votre produit) sont utilisées.

2. Votre ordinateur doit rester allumé pour charger la souris. Suivez ces étapes pour empêcher l’ordinateur de passer en mode de mise en veille ou en mode de mise en veille prolongée.

a) Cliquez sur « Start » (Démarrer).

b) Cliquez sur « Control Panel » (Panneau de configuration). c) Cliquez sur « Performance and Maintenance »

(Performances et Maintenance) (ignorez cette étape en vue classique). d) Cliquez sur « Power Options » (Options d’alimentation).

e) Veillez à ce que les options « System Standby » (Mise en veille du système) et « System Hibernates : » (Mise en veille prolongée du système) sous « Plugged in » (Branché) soient mis à « Never » (Jamais).

3. Si vous utilisez le moniteur ACL de votre ordinateur portable, veuillez ne pas fermer le couvercle.
