partiipantsame to this event, inluding17 invited speakers, 163partiipants from Brazilianinstitutions and 9

from abroad. Over180abstratsweresubmitted,from whih 138wereseletedforposterpresentation,in paralell

to theinvitedtalks. Thepaperspresentlypublished, revisedand refereedaordingto theusual standardsofthe

Brazilian Journalof Physis, provide afair overview of the program of the meeting, overinga varietyof topis

whiharerelevantforsemiondutorphysisatthepresentmoment.

TheBWSP-10reinforedthetraditionofthisseriesofbiannualmeetings,whihstartedalmosttwentyyearsago

with the1 st

BrazilianShoolonSemiondutor Physis,heldin Campinasin 1983. Thehangeof thenamefrom

\shool" to \workshop"oured in 1995, in aordanewith ahange in formatof theevent towardsa sienti

meetingaimedatativeresearhersinthearea. Suhhangeinnameandformat,andtheontinuoussuessofthe

followingmeetings,testiesthedevelopmentofthisresearhareainBrazil,aswellasthematurityofthesienti

ommunity responsiblefor this development. It isinteresting to see that theprogram of theBWSP-10is losely

tuned to theprograms ofother importantinternationalonfereneson semiondutorphysis. It is worthnoting

that suhprogramislargelydenedbytheBrazilianresearherswhentheysubmittheirabstrats.
