Thescientificboardofanymedicalsocietyintrinsically car-riesthedutytofosteranddisseminateknowledge,adopting thenecessarysensitivitytousethebestchannelsof commu-nication,whethertraditionalornew,createdaccordingtothe necessity.

Brazilianhipsurgeons, membersoftheBrazilianHip Soci-ety(SociedadeBrasileiradeQuadril[SBQ]),follow therapid scientific-technologicaltransformationsthathaveredefined interpersonalrelationships and lifeitself, and are eager to presenttheproductoftheirwork.

With this understanding, one of the main goals of the 2016–2017 SBQ Board was to reopen the supplement as a channelof scientificpublication inthe BrazilianJournal of Orthopedics (Revista Brasileira de Ortopedia [RBO]), which hadnotbeenusedsince2011.Withtheimmediateand sub-stantialcollaborationoftheeditor-in-chief,Prof.Dr.Gilberto LuísCamanho, who madethe entirestructureofour most esteemedjournalavailable, thesupplementwascreated, fea-turingtenunpublishedarticlesthatencompassthedifferent areas of hip surgery; it is available in printed and online forms, andisindexedinPubMed.Naturally, wearestillfar fromourpotential, asthereisalackofadequategovernment andprivateinvestment, whichhobblesmanyresearchersand journalsresponsible fordisseminating knowledge.Thefew achievementsareduetothecommitmentofanindividualor afewidealists, whotrytoprovidegreaterqualityandvisibility towhatisproducedinourenvironment.

Regardless of the obstacles, I invite everyone to read therelevantarticles, whichrepresentdifferentservicesand schools, anddemonstratethat, nowadays, knowledgeisnot tied up in few centers of excellence, but rather navigates everywhere.

We sail through all the oceans of the planet hip, starting from preservation surgery, with excellent studies on femoroacetabular impact, which address the correla-tion between the clinical picture and imaging exams in

soccer athletes, and the comparison between the arthro-scopicandopentreatmentthroughtheanterioraccessroute. We will also navigate through the seas ofarthroplasty, whicharemoredocileandcontrolledinprimaryoperations, andmorehostileandtreacherousinrevision.Inthefirstgroup, the useful tranexamic acid, the protocols of safe surgery, andthetechniqueofcementationinconicalfemoralstems bymeansofradiographsareassessed;inthesecondgroup, theoptionofassociatingtantalumwedgeswiththeefficient lyophilizedbovinegraftisdemonstrated.

Finally,IwouldliketothankthePresidentofSBQ,Carlos RobertoGalia,whowasagreatsupporterofthisendeavorand regardeditasapersonalcommitment;Dr.GiancarloPolesello, treasurerofSBQ,forhisinvaluablecontributiontothe viabil-ityoftheproject;andallmembersoftheSBQ,whohavethe perceptionand theclaritytorealizethat onlywith expres-siveparticipationofthecommunityaregreatandvictorious transformationsobtained.
