• 2006: PhD in Sociology with Distinction and Praise in the area of Historical and Economic Sociology, by the University of Coimbra.
• 1999: MA in Sociology with the classification of Very Good in the area of Sociology of Development and Social Change, by the University of Coimbra.
• 1985: Degree in Philosophy by the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (Faculty of Humanities of the University of Lisbon) with the final classification of good (average of 15, in a scale of 1 to 20).
B. Research:
• Since December 2015: Integrated researcher in the Instituto de História Contemporânea [Institute of Contemporary History] of the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
• From July 2009 to June 2014: Full-time researcher (Investigador Auxiliar) of CRIA (Centro em Rede de Investigação em Antropologia [Centre for Research in Anthropology]), hired under the program Ciência 2008.
• 2007-2010: Postdoctoral researcher in the project “Muslims under pressure: from local microscopies to the geopolitics dynamics of the colonial and postcolonial word-system” (PTDC/ANT/71673/2006), funded by the FCT (Foundation of Science and Technology) and developed within the CEMME (Centro de Estudos de Migrações e Minorias Étnicas [Centre of Studies of Migrations and Ethnic Minorities]).
