To help the understanding and identity of its products and make the publics and specifiers choice easier, Cifial has separated its offer in the groups performance areas: Taps, Sanitaryware, Door hardware, into three major segments: gold, style and techno. The first contemplates the decoration products, the second the contemporary models, and the third contemporary models by established designers.

Ao apostar no design português, a CIFIAL construiu, ao longo da última década, uma posição impar no panorama dos produtos de marca da indústria nacional, consolidando imagem de qualidade e uma forte identidade, cada vez mais reconhecidas pelo público.

Colaborando com a empresa desde os anos 90, Carlos Aguiar que com ela assinou o mais premiado projecto nacional de design industrial a torneira techno 465 galardoada com o DESIGN PLUS e RED DOT na Alemanha e GOOD DESIGN nos EUA, e finalista do IF / Industrial Fórum Hannover e do Prémio de Design da República Federal Alemã. É também autor da maioria das propostas incluídas neste catálogo. Na sequência de modelos que se tornaram verdadeiros ex-libris do design em Portugal, como a Panda, Carlos Aguiar assina agora duas linhas fundamentais para uma nova dinâmica da Cifial no mercado global: a requintada style 65 e extensa oferta de variantes proposta pela style 35.

By making a forecasting on the Portuguese design, Cifial has built a unique position in the national products arena throughout the last decade, consolidating its quality image and a strong identity, ever more recognised by the public .

Collaborating with the company since the 90s, Carlos Aguiar has established the most awarded national industrial design the Techno 465 tap awarded with the DESIGN PLUS and RED DOT in Germany and the GOOD DESIGN in the USA, and finalist of the IF/ Hannover Industrial Forum and Design Prize of theFederal Republic of Germany . He is also the designer of the majority of products included in this catalogue. The models have since turned into real icons of Portuguese design, such as the Panda tap, Carlos Aguiar has now designed two new fundamental ranges for a new Cifial dynamic in the global market: the exquisite style 65 and the extended variations offered by style 35.

A nova linha style cobra, alia a precisão do accionamento bimando, por castelos cerâmicos de 270º, ao rigor formal de um design actual e à excepcional qualidade de um acabamento inovador - Cromado Satinado PVD (X13), conseguido pelo processo PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coberto por uma garantia vitalicia. Os manípulos foram desenvolvidos através do mais recente processo de recartilhagem, expressando, tecnologia e modernidade. A gama de bicas Style Cobra oferece soluções electrónicas, bimando e monocomando joy-stick e pode ser associada a três alongadores (100mm, 160mm, 230mm) dando resposta a todas as configurações de lavatório. The new style cobra line creates a perfect combination between the two-handled system (supported on 270º ceramic cartridge) and the formal strictness of contemporary design. The handles incorporate the highest standard of knurling process, expressing technology and modernity. The exceptional quality of its innovative finishing (X13) through a PVD process (Physical Vapour Deposition), gives a smooth sence of touch, and offers a lifetime guarantee to the products. This line also includes electronic solutions on both the two-handled and single lever versions which can be adjusted to three different height extensions (100mm, 160mm, 230mm) to suit different bathroom applications. The style 65 range is the newest proposition from Cifial of monobloc taps with ceramic cartridge, to the medium-high segment. Besides the basin and bidet products, the range also includes standard and thermostatic version of shower and bath/shower exposed and concealed, all in Chrome finish (625).

A série panda , marca uma viragem histórica na gama de torneiras Cifial, com a utilização de um sistema monocomando por cartucho cerâmico. Este modelo tornou-se um ex-libris da Cifial tendo estado representado em inúmeras exposições de design em Portugal, Espanha, Alemanha e USA. Foi finalista nos Estados Unidos da América do Prémio Good Design 1998, tendo integrado a exposição permanente do Museu Chicago Athenaeum. Em 2003 foi seleccionado pelos CTT como uns dos marcos fundamentais do design português do séc. XX numa emissão filatélica sobre o tema.

The panda range marks an historic turn point in the Cifial taps range, with the use of the monobloc system with ceramic cartridge. This model has become an icon of Cifial, being represented in numerous design exhibitions in Portugal, Spain, Germany and USA. It was finalist of the Good Design award in 1998 in the USA, having a permanent position in the exhibition at the Chicago Athenaeum Museum. In 2003 it was selected by the Portuguese post office as being one of the most fundamental milestones of Portuguese design of the XX century for a stamp edition about the theme of design.

Os selos da presente emissão pretendem homenagear os profissionais que os conceberam. Embora o termo design faça já parte do nosso vocabulário é normalmente associado a produtos destinados a funções práticas mas de configuração inesperada. É esse sentido imperativo que esta emissão pretende corrigir, mostrando como funcionalidade e qualidade estética são não só compativeis como complementares. Dez designers * de diferentes gerações, numa emissão de nove selos exemplificam uma diversidade de soluções que ao longo de cinco décadas integraram o nosso quotidiano e contribuiram decisivamente para o tornar mais lúdico e reconfortante 1_.

Every day we relate with a multiplicity of objects, specially thought to improve our life. Some of them besides doing it more functionally than others also incorporate an esthetical dimension. These artefacts are the expression of design activity. The stamps from the present edition intend to reference the professionals that conceived them.

Although now the word design makes part of our vocabulary its normally associated with products destined to more practical function but with unexpected configuration. In this imperative sense that the edition attempts to correct, showing how functionality and esthetical quality are not only compatible but also complementary.

Ten designers from different generations, in a 9 stamp edition give an example of diversity of solutions that throughout five decades have integrated our everyday living and decisively contributed to make it more invigorating1_.

Desde o seu lançamento, a série millenium mereceu uma grande adesão do mercado sendo neste momento o modelo mais vendido da gama. Since its launch, the millenium range has had a great market demand being the largest selling model from the collection. With particularly elegant and soft lines it used for the first time a formal solution for the bidet tap that would be used in many following projects. The bath and bath/shower models highlight the purity of the concept using a neutral and slim transversal body. The main finish for the range is chrome (625), with nickel (633) also being available.

The image range, the first Oliva monobloc tap, has undergone a deep restyling made by the designer Carlos Aguiar, now having a new lever and new bath and bath/shower tap bodies. With a smaller volume, the Image tap explores the reflections in the flat finishes of polished chrome. The ranges gives great flexibility within the contemporary and traditional context at a reasonable price.

The Euroliva range, with its elementary and clear geometry, compact size marked the opening of this sector of the national market to the modern taste. The success of the range is demonstrated by the general acceptance from the public (from the individual consumer to the specifying architect) and for the versatility of its application (in the home, hotels, etc) 1. The version now in production, was integrated in Cifials range with the acquisition of Oliva (the company where the project was developed).

Daciano da Costa changed the history of design in Portugal. To communicate art to a large number of users, he tried, using the useful object, to give a little bit of satisfaction to people. He had a fundamental role in the development and implementation of the practice and became a major reference of design in Portugal. This one, as many other projects, was capable to resist time and even with the adulterations it suffered constitute a fundamental milestone of the portuguese material culture and consumers memory.
