Este trabalho permitiu-nos aferir acerca da existência das espécies de bivalves nas lagoas alvo deste estudo. Neste sentido, constatou-se a presença de três espécies em ambas as lagoas, uma espécie exótica (Corbicula fluminea) e duas espécies nativas (Anodonta cygnea e Unio delphinus) listadas na Lista vermelha da IUCN dos moluscos não marinhos como Quase Ameaçadas (Cuttelod et al., 2011).

Além de comprovada a sua existência, foi também possível concluir que ambas as populações de bivalves nativas da Barrinha de Mira se encontram estabilizadas, uma vez que quer em termos de densidades quer em termos de recrutamento de juvenis apresentam valores bastante assinaláveis. Algo que não se verificou na Lagoa de Mira, pois o recrutamento de juvenis é praticamente inexistente para ambas as espécies nativas. Esta evidência deve-se sobretudo à relativa baixa presença de hospedeiros e ao fato de na Lagoa de Mira a C. flumiea apresentar valores de densidade superiores aos alcançados pelo

U. delphinus.

Constatou-se igualmente que existe uma domínio expressivo das espécies exóticas piscícolas relativamente às nativas em ambas as lagoas, e que nenhuma das espécies capturadas funciona como hospedeiras por excelência para as duas espécies de bivalves nativas aí presentes e das quais dependem diretamente, fator de poderá agravar a situação dessas populações de bivalves no médio prazo. Daí a necessidade de intervir e implementar estratégias de conservação.

Em suma, e após análise de todos os elementos anteriormente retratados, conclui-se que ambas as lagoas apresentam uma classificação de BOM para o Estado Ecológico cumprindo os parâmetros exigidos pela DQA para albufeiras. Este trabalho vem contribuir para o melhor conhecimento da atual situação ecológica de A. cygnea e U. delphinus em Portugal. A informação que consta neste estudo é importante não só para aferir em termos do estado atual de conservação destas espécies mas também como um estudo de referência para futuras comparações sobre o estado ecológico das espécies e das lagoas em causa. De salientar, por último, que seria extremamente importante a criação de critérios e parâmetros que permitissem avaliar de forma clara e correta estas zonas húmidas de grande produtividade e sensibilidade natural, que oferecem uma gama de serviços naturais e constituem habitats ímpares no nosso país, albergando uma riqueza específica inestimável.
