Inthemeantime,theideabegantakingshapeandsuggestions wereexchangedbetweenseverallecturersofPharmacognosyand relatedareas.BecauseinmanyPharmacycoursespartofthe Phar-macognosycontenthasbeentransferredtootherdisciplines(such asPharmacobotany,Phytochemistry,Phytomedicine,Technology andQualitycontrolofdrugplants andtheirderivatives,among others),theconsensuswasthatrestrictingsubmissions to Phar-macognosylecturerswouldexcludethevaluablecontributionof theresearchersoftheaboveareas.

Thus, lecturers of various fields that include the subject of Pharmacognosywereinvitedtosubmittheirmanuscripts.Asa con-sequence,submissionsfromallareaswerereceived,showingthe multidisciplinarycharacterofPharmacognosy. In fact, thisissue indicatesthattheBrazilianJournalofPharmacognosyisakey vehi-cleforthedisseminationofresultsintheseareas.Ourjournal,today partofElsevierjournals, hasbroadinternationalvisibility, witha crescentimpactfactor(nowIFof0.832),andcouldbecomethemain
