A COLUNA DE PADRE JEFF
(1) Esta semana, estarei ausente da paróquia, participando na convenção anual da Sociedade de Direito Canónico da América (CLSA) em Phoenix, Arizona, com outros canonistas de todo o país. É uma semana de se reconectar com os outros canonistas, mas também um tempo para continuar a aprender e estudar, para beneficiar do meu ministério no Tribunal Diocesano. Por favor, ore para que eu possa ter uma boa viagem.
(2) Como escrevi a semana passada, por favor, peço que NÃO
PARQUE na frente das garagens durante as Missas ou outros
eventos paroquiais. Se houvesse uma emergência, nem o Padre Tom nem eu poderíamos sair com os nossos carros. Obrigadíssimo pela sua compreensão.
(3) Os bispos católicos dos Estados Unidos designaram o mês de Outubro como “o Mês de Respeitamos a Vida” e nomearam o primeiro domingo de Outubro como “o domingo de Respeitamos a vida.” Durante todo o mês de Outubro, os católicos são convidados numa maneira especial a reflectir sobre o dom da vida humana e como as vidas de todas as pessoas podem ser protegidas desde a concepção até a morte natural. O mês de Outubro também tem sido
observado como o mês para crescer em nossa devoção à Santíssima Virgem Maria, a Mãe de Deus, especialmente através do Rosário. De fato, a Festa de Nossa Senhora do Rosário é celebrada no dia 7 de Outubro (excepto neste ano, porque cai no domingo), e Nossa Senhora de Fátima e o “Milagre do Sol” ocorreram no dia 13 de Outubro.
São Francisco de Sales disse uma vez: “O maior método para
rezar é rezar o rosário.” Há muitas oportunidades aqui na nossa
paróquia para rezar o terço. Se não puder se juntar com eles, por favor, ore o Rosário em casa, talvez como uma família. De fato, o Venerável Padre Patrick Peyton, o “Padre do Rosário,” disse uma vez: “A família que reza unida, permanece unida.”

CAMPANHA DE ROUPAS DE INVERNO PARA CRIANÇAS
No mês de Outubro, a Sociedade de São Vicente de Paulo e os Cavaleiros de Colombo vão colectar roupa de inverno - casacos, chapéus, luvas, cachecois, e camisolas para crianças da pre-escola até 6o grau que frequentam diferentes escolas em Fall River.
Podemos aceitar roupas usadas que estejam em boas condições e limpas. No passado, aceitamos roupas para adultos, mas queremos especificamente só roupas para crianças. As caixas para esta campanha estarão à entrada da Igreja.

(1) I will be away from the parish this week at the annual conven-tion of the Canon Law Society of America (CLSA) with other canon lawyers from throughout the country. It is time to recon-nect with other canonists, but also a time to continue to learn and study, for the benefit of my ministry at the Diocesan Tribu-nal. Please pray that I may have safe travels to and from Phoe-nix, Arizona.
(2) As I wrote last week, I ask that you please DO NOT PARK
in front of the garages during Masses or other parish events. If
there was an emergency, neither Father Tom nor I could leave with our cars. Thank you for your understanding.
(3) The United States Catholic Bishops has designated October as “Respect Life Month” and named this first Sunday of Octo-ber as “Respect Life Sunday.” Throughout this month, Catholics are invited in a special way to reflect on the gift of human life and how all persons’ lives can be protected from conception to natural death.
October has also long been observed as the month to grow in our devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, especially through the Rosary. In fact, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on the 7th (except this year, since it falls
on Sunday), and Our Lady of Fatima and the “Miracle of the
Sun” occurred on October 13.
St. Francis de Sales once said: “The greatest method of
pray-ing is to pray the Rosary.” There are many opportunities here at
the parish to pray the Rosary. If you cannot join them, please pray the Rosary at home, perhaps as a family. In fact, Venerable Fr. Patrick Peyton, the Rosary Priest, once said: “The family that
prays together stays together.”

CAMPAIGN TO COLLECT CHILDREN’S
WINTER OUTERWEAR
During the month of October, the Fall River District of St. Vin-cent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus will be collect-ing winter coats, hats, mittens, scarves and sweatshirts for school-aged children in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. We can accept any gently used clean items. In the past, we have accepted adult clothing, but we specifically want children clothes only. Donation boxes are set up at the entrance of the church.
