1. ECONOMICS OF POPULATION AGEING AND MARKETING FOR ELDERLY CONSUMERS
Meiners N1
Until now, human history and the modern economy have been influenced primarily by younger people. As a result, no nation is certain about how future demographic shifts will impact the global and national economies. One possibility is that the extensive economic growth seen in the 20th and 21st centuries might lose momentum, but this is only one conjecture. What we can be certain of is that demand structures and patterns of consumption will change significantly as the population ages. This may trigger insecurity within the economy, yet will also create significant new opportunities.
Demographic changes will have both micro- and macroeconomic consequences. Microeconomics applies the hypothesis of rationality to decision-making problems and coordination processes within a country’s economy, which become necessary because of the work split of the production process. Researchers who study microeconomics examine individual features of economic processes, i.e. the economic subjects (individuals, businesses, households, governments), and the individual goods and services that are exchanged. “The objective of microeconomics is not to explain the behaviours of ‘typical’ actors in decision-making situations. Instead, it is interested in the interplay between individual behaviours on the markets and in organisations, and in the consequences resulting from these actions at the system level (e.g. supply and demand on the markets for different goods, market prices)” (Braun, 2000, pp. 300-301). The rationality hypothesis posits that every decision-maker is a rational actor and will use all available resources to maximize gains and minimize losses when engaging in a transaction.
The following four factors are particularly relevant to the microeconomic implications of changing demographic structures: 1) consumption, 2) production, 3) labour market/ employment, and 4) the wealth of older people. Consumption is primarily affected by changes in the price elasticity of demand, changes in the consumer structure, and changes in savings behaviour in old age. By contrast, production focuses on demographically-induced changes in work productivity and age-specific production functions. In terms of the labour market/ employment, demographic-related changes include demand for work and the jobs available for different age groups. Finally, the wealth of older people is affected by the interplay of supply and demand and the labour market - combined with the factors specified above.
On the other hand, macroeconomics more or less neglects individuals’ behavioural decisions and instead examines a country’s economy by combining similar economic subjects into sectors, such as households and companies. In macroeconomics, economic activities are aggregated by sectors, and consumption, goods, and price levels are analysed using macroeconomic statistical modelling. Generally, economists use balanced approaches that are based on microeconomic foundations.
The following five factors are particularly relevant to the macroeconomic implications of population ageing: 1) changes in the age structure, 2) growth of certain sectors, 3) income
distribution, 4) theoretical financial aspects, and 5) regional demographic changes. Changes to the age structure of a population always results in macroeconomic changes if ageing individuals alter their consumer behaviours, work productivity, and employment choices. In relation to work, growth factors aim to quantify the economic changes that result from demographic shifts (e.g., changes in the number and proportion of elderly workers, age-specific availability of jobs, unemployment rates of elderly workers), and to qualitatively assess how these changes affect individuals (e.g. the willingness of elderly workers to work in different sectors).
When examining the distribution of income within an economy, the question of whether population ageing leads to less equal distribution of income is important. An individual’s or household’s financial security, e.g. the availability of funds, pension level, determines access to and quality of age-related care.
Population ageing also influence mobility and production patterns (e.g. elderly workers might be less willing to move for work than younger ages, less of a responsive to higher wages and other incentives), which in turn can have an effect on interregional migration. This can play a particularly important role in growth industries/sectors because these are often focused on specific regions.
Various macroeconomic crisis scenarios show that a reduction in the number of consumers can lead to lower overall demand for consumer goods, which in turn has negative effects on employment. In Germany, the Enquete Commission ‘Demographic Change’ expressed doubts as early as 2002 that there is a one-dimensional relationship between the number of consumers expressing demand for consumer goods and the overall demand for consumer goods (Deutscher Bundestag, 2002, quoted in Heinze et al., 2011). The Commission asserts that the overall demand for consumer goods is influenced not by the number of individuals in a population, but by the number and structure of households. Eitner et al. (2011, p. 311) also confirm this: “The implied directness of the relationship – fewer consumers = less consumption […] – must, however, be rejected insofar as the private demand for consumer goods is strongly affected by the number of households and by the household structure”. This mainly applies to sectors such as energy and other services that are consumed at the household level, all of which are affected by population ageing.
Furthermore, the demand for consumer goods must be examined not just in relation to absolute level, but also to structure. This is affected by age, period, and cohort effects as much as by different consumers in different phases of life, such as the growing demand for social services and other health-related goods by those older in age. Eitner et al. (2011, p. 311) emphasize: “Changes within phases of life, and therefore impacts on consumption patterns and demands of older people, have a close linkage to economic growth”. Nevertheless, Fachinger (2012, p. 615) finds that “[…] statements regarding the further positive development of the economic power of ‘age’ must be viewed with great scepticism.”
systems”. Demographers are now trying to research the causes and consequences of changes to the population structure using an interdisciplinary lens. Therefore, topical demographic research is not only desirable but – from the perspective of many interest groups such as companies, municipalities and associations – it is, in fact, essential. Kohlbacher/Hang (2011, 75) also confirm the need for topical research: “The above discussion indicates strong needs for further research, both academic and company-based”. Antony et al. (2011, 346) consolidate this statement by emphasizing that the findings obtained so far “[…] need to be validated with rigorous research”.

2. FAMILIA E NEGOCIAÇÃO DO CUIDADO Carretta RYD, Dos Santos JMPB

3. UMA INTRODUÇÃO À INTERAÇÃO HUMANO-ROBÔ PARA CUIDADOS COM IDOSOS
Romero R, Ranieri C, Pinto A, Tozadore Resumo
Figura 1: Robôs Paro [4], AIBO [5], NAO [6] e Romeo1, respectivamente.
Experimentos

Introduction
and secretion of sebum by the sebaceous glands; compromised immune response; decreased number of sweat glands; decrease of the vascular bed with fragility of the blood vessels, consequently loss of hydration. Thus, it is evident the need for specific care for the skin of the elderly that meet the alterations of the integumentary system.
The skin is the largest organ of the human body and in it is the whole history and memory of a life. According to NESSI (2013), massage is one of the manual resources that can promote the sensation of well-being, improvements in the body, renewal and hydration of the skin. Through this study we evaluate the responses of the skin hydration of the elderly, pre and post classic massage, with the SkinUp appliance.
Objectives
To evaluate the hydration of the skin of elderly people participating in the research, before and after the classic massage, with the SkinUp appliance.
Methodology
In this study, the SKN1501 Digital Skin Analyzer is used, an apparatus that allows the evaluation of the elderly skin as regards its hydration, since it is a quality reader device such as moisture, oiliness and elasticity, in a bioelectrical impedance analysis, in sample of 20 volunteers, elderly women over 60 years old, randomly selected from the elderly population of the city of São Paulo, attending the Academic SPA of the Anhembi Morumbi University. The hand massage was applied, followed by a General Evaluation and Self-esteem questionnaire. The study is quantitative, descriptive and cross - sectional, with this study in the interaction with the elderly, based on the theoretical perspective of Social Gerontology.
Sequence: Hand Massage and Hydration Evaluation 1. Accommodation of the Elderly.
2. Evaluate with SkinUp. 3. Hand hygiene.
4. Hand warming.
5. Touch and hold the touch until you finish the massage. 6. Transverse sliding on the back of the heart sense hand. 7. Parallel sliding with gap between the metacarpals. 8. Circular thumbslip on the back of the hand.
9. Circular slides on the palm of the hand with thumbs.
10. Thumb pressure in five longitudinal lines in the palm of the hand. 11. Pressure, torsion and slip traction, on all the fingers of the elderly. 12. Pressure on all joints.
13. Interleave your fingers and pull them apart. 14. Smooth bearing in the whole hand.
15. Hold the handle, perform flexion, dorsiflexion, inclination and circumference. 16. Slip Soft.
17. Perform the same massage procedure on the other hand.
18. After applying the massage, wait five minutes and check the hydration with the SkinUp Skin Analyzer.
(This device is an oil, moisturizing and skin elasticity reader with bioelectrical impedance analysis technology. It is an instrument to assess whether the skin of the elderly is hydrated.)
According to the literature (Guirro and Guirro, 2010; Nessi, 2010; Kavanagh, 2010),
it is expected that massage may reduce muscle tensions caused by stress, but also good peripheral circulation, consequently the improvement of skin hydration . 100% of the volunteers showed full acceptance of hand massage, because this is a treatment without requirements or complications and, in their evaluation words, "a pleasant technique to receive", meeting our initial hypotheses regarding the application of this hydration treatment and consequent sense of well-being. " Applied a Self-Esteem Questionnaire regarding the beauty of the skin of the hands. In the evaluation, the classification of the skin type (mixed, dry, oily and normal), the phototype (Fitzpatrick classification), sensitivity (normal, sensitive, very sensitive and not sensitive) and aging were observed, coloration, dyschromia, presence of superficial and deep wrinkles.
Skin Type Description: Fitzpatrick rating
Type I Very light skin, always burning, never brown Type II Light skin, always burning and sometimes tanning Type III Skin less clear, sometimes burns and always browns Type IV Light brown skin rarely burns and always browns Type V Dark brown skin, never burns and always browns Type VI Black skin, never burning, always brown
Also a questionnaire about self-esteem regarding the beauty of the skin. The SkinUp appliance evaluates the skin as moisturized when it shows on the display above 50%. The pre- and post-massage evaluation was performed in the hands, where the mean hydration before was 30.6%. After the massage the average was 43.4%. All showed satisfaction with the massages and hydration. The response was 100% self-esteem, after seeing the results. Feeling more beautiful.
Final Considerations
The SkinUp as a technological resource to verify the hydration of the skin of the hands of the elderly was relevant presenting effectiveness, through the capabilities of the electric capacitance when analyzed before and after massage. It was possible to accurately verify the loss of transepidermal water before massages. Responses with changes in hydration in the stratum corneum were significant, with more than 45% increase in post-massage hydration. We notice an increase in self-esteem, when they perceive that they are well, with skin moisturized, colored and balanced. More research is needed, with more sample numbers and massage practices.

Older people, especially those who return to university, are looking forward to use applications to exercise their minds with games, facilitating everyday activities such as calling a taxi, free national / international calls ... A question arises: Is it possible that these old people, facing the innovations continually brought by smartphones, are able to develop skills and techniques suitable for a productive use of their applications?
Methodology and Objectives
responses to each emerging category, regarding the benefits or difficulties of digital inclusion. The systematization took place in eight thematic categories, following Bardin (2011). The objective was to offer a practice of learning to the elderly, with the pursuit of the necessary skills to handle applications in smartphone / tablet, in order to facilitate their daily activities. This would bring them timely gain of efforts, time, costs, subjective benefits, constituting factor for a better quality of life. This is based on some subjective strategies for reception / dialogue with the interviewees, guiding them to the followed step-by-step registration, and facilitating techniques consolidated in online tutorials created between researcher and interviewee. As a prerequisite for the spirit of cooperation between the two, the acceptance, the receptivity of one to the other, expressed in the ability to listen to the demands / suggestions of the elderly, in informal conversation, or in the practices in the joint work. Cooperation that has been explored as "ability" in the sense of Sennett (2015), meaning requiring "(...) the ability to understand and be receptive to the other to act together, even if the process is thorny, full of difficulties and ambiguities ... "(Sennett, 2015, p.10).
Results
Exemplary was the evidence in the responses of those who, even though they were of advanced age, were able to pursuit efficient application handling skills, thanks to learning to be given in an environment without pressure, with the adequate support of a computer advisor or following on- line tutorials built for this purpose.
Conclusion
The results of this limited scope study - which suggests the need of a more extensive thematic retake, with a larger number of subjects - showed that the elderly could, depending on the good verbal and relational interaction, become fit to use mobile applications of their interest / convenience, allowing them to exchange mediatic experiences that facilitate the daily activities, to the point of these elderly people, cf. their testimony, to start talking about it with grandchildren and their children, a fact that reinforces intergenerational relationships in the family.

Introduction
Dementia is characterized by progressive dysfunction and death of brain cells. The affected subjects may develop functional capacity losses, cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric symptoms (PADILHA, 2011).
The general prevalence of dementia in the age group of 65 years or older is estimated at 8.5% in Latin America (WHO, 2012) and 15.2% in the city of Ribeirão Preto (Lopes et al, 2012). Also according to the World Health Organization, the aging of the population will impact on the rise in dementia cases globally.
