Enquadramento | Introduction

Nesta brochura, o Gabinete de Planeamento, Políticas e Administração Geral (GPP) pretende divulgar informação sucinta que dê a conhecer o que no setor agrícola,

a nível de produção vegetal, se produz em Portugal.

Para o efeito foi seleccionada informação que se afigura essencial para um conhecimento geral dos produtos, incluindo o calendário de produção e os volumes de

produção obtidos, os preços a que são vendidos, as condições em que se processa o seu escoamento – colocação no mercado nacional ou externo – e o que

representam para o abastecimento interno do país.

O valor da produção do total de frutos, a preços correntes, correspondeu, em 2016, em Portugal, a 16,8% do valor da Produção do Ramo Agrícola e a 30% do

valor da Produção Vegetal, segundo as Contas Económicas da Agricultura (INE); De 2010 para 2016, a evolução do setor traduziu-se numa taxa média de

crescimento anual de 3,4%.

As fruteiras (excluindo frutos secos) com maior área de instalação são

laranjeira (17 mil hectares), macieira (14 mil hectares) e pereira (12 mil

hectares).

Rendimento de algumas fruteiras desde 2010:



Laranjeira, correspondendo a 83% da extensão de citrinos,

apresentou estabilidade na área, mas aumentou em 20% a

produtividade – valor médio em 2016 de cerca de 18 toneladas por

hectare;



Pessegueiro manteve a área mas diminuiu em -31%, a produção face

à campanha anterior;



A cerejeira, com um acréscimo de 13% de área, viu reduzida a sua

produção em mais de metade da alcançada em 2015 (-58,4%);



A macieira registou um aumento de 20% na sua área, mas a redução

na produção foi muito considerável (-25,7%, face a 2015).

Yield of some fruit trees since 2010:



Orange trees, corresponding to 83% of citrus fruit area, remained

stable in terms of area, but increased yield by 20% - average value in

2016 of around 18 tons per hectare



Peach trees maintained the same area but decreased production by

-31%;



Production of cherry trees, with a 13% area increase, fell by more than

half from 2015 (-58.4%);



Apple trees registered a 20% increase in area, but with a very

considerable production drop (-25.7%, compared to 2015).



A pereira, que registou um acréscimo de 14% de área neste período, teve

uma produção ligeiramente inferior a 2015, ficando ao nível das piores

campanhas da última década

Pear trees, with an area increase of 14% in this period, had a slight

production fall from 2015, in one of the worst agricultural years of the last

decade.



Os frutos secos ocupam uma área de 70 882 hectares, dos quais 50,4% de

castanha e 44,4% de amêndoa.

Nut trees occupy an area of 70 882 hectares, of which 50.4% are chestnut

trees and 44.4% almond trees.



Desde 2010 a área de amendoais cresceu 17%, mas a produção sofreu um

decréscimo de 13,6%, face à campanha anterior.

Since 2010, almond tree area has grown 17%, but in 2016 production

declined by 13.6%, compared to the previous year.



Opostamente, a campanha da castanha ficou ao nível das melhores da

última década, acima da média do último quinquénio (+14,7%).

Os preços médios da pera, laranja e maçã, subiram, em 2016 relativamente ao ano anterior, 50%, 29% e 11%, respetivamente.

A framboesa é o fruto fresco para o qual o saldo

comercial das transações com o exterior apresenta

o valor positivo mais elevado – 102 961 milhares de

euros, a que se seguem a pera e a laranja com

saldos de 53 463 e 9 488 milhares de euros,

respetivamente. Da produção total de framboesa

aproximadamente 83% foi escoada para o exterior.

A balança comercial de castanha com casca e sem casca apresenta um saldo positivo de 41 479 e 8 419 milhares de euros, respectivamente. Também o pinhão

e a amêndoa com casca apresentam um saldo comercial positivo com o exterior, 5 467 e 1 445 milhares de euros.

The trade balance of chestnuts in shell or shelled is positive: €41.5 and €8.4 million, respectively. Pine nuts and almonds in shell also have a foreign trade surplus

of €5.4 and €1.4 million.



De salientar que temos um nível razoável de autoaprovisionamento de frutos (total), 79%, sendo no caso dos citrinos de 91%.

Em 2016 a área total de hortícolas foi de 33 340 hectares (-3%, face a 2015),

registando a produção um ligeiro acréscimo em relação a 2015 (+2%). A

couve repolho foi a cultura que ocupou maior área (3 726 hectares),

ultrapassando a superfície de abóbora (2 941 hectares). A área de

couve-brócolo também aumentou (+24%), ultrapassando os 2,5 mil hectares. A

área de grelos foi a que apresentou maior decréscimo (-988 hectares),

seguida da ervilha (-424 hectares).

A couve repolho, acompanhando o aumento de área face a 2015, foi a cultura hortícola com maior produção, ultrapassando as 100 mil toneladas. A cenoura e

o tomate para consumo em fresco mantiveram o volume de produção próximo do alcançado na campanha anterior (acima das 95 mil toneladas).

Cabbage area increased from 2015, and had the highest vegetable production, surpassing 100 thousand tons. Carrots and tomatoes for fresh consumption

maintained an output similar to the previous year (above 95 thousand tons).



A

área cultivada com batata, em 2016, foi de 23 296 hectares, o que significa uma redução de 5,4 % face a 2015. Cerca de 83% desta área corresponde a cultura

efetuada em regadio. Aproximadamente 88% da produção de batata foi obtida em três regiões: Lisboa e Vale do Tejo (38%), Norte (26%) e Centro (23%).

De referir que, ao contrário do que tem sido habitual nas últimas campanhas, as cotações da batata de consumo subiram (43,6%, face a 2015), tendo o

escoamento decorrido sem problemas. Seguiu-se a alface (+30%) e a couve-flor (+27%).

It should be noted that, contrary to the usual in recent years, consumer potato prices have risen (43.6%) compared to 2015, and distribution was easy. Lettuce (+

30%) and cauliflower (+ 27%) prices have also increased.

alface, abóbora, outras raízes comestíveis, alho francês, batata-doce, couve branca e roxa, espinafre e milho doce.

Em termos de trocas comerciais com o exterior, foram as “folhagens” que apresentaram um saldo comercial mais positivo em 2016. Embora a um nível mais

baixo, podemos salientar também a situação vantajosa das “plantas de ar livre”, “estacas e enxertos” e “cravos”.

Entre 2013 e 2016, a área total semeada com cereais de outono-inverno reduziu-se em 19%, apesar da área de cevada ter aumentado 12%.

From 2013 to 2016, total area planted with autumn-winter cereals (oats, rye, wheat and barley) decreased by 19%, although the area planted with barley

increased 12%.



Entre 2013 e 2016, a produção de cereais de outono-inverno registou um ligeiro crescimento (+2%), resultante, essencialmente, do forte aumento na produção

de cevada (+41,5%).

From 2013 to 2016, autumn-winter cereals output registered a small 2% increase, driven by a huge increase in barley output (+ 41.5%).



As áreas cultivadas com arroz e com milho diminuíram 3% e 21%, respetivamente, entre 2013 e 2016.

Areas cultivated with rice and maize fell by 3% and 21%, respectively, between 2013 and 2016.



A produção de milho caiu 24%, entre 2013 e 2016, e a produção de arroz diminuiu 6%.
