Prezado (a) cirurgião(ã) plástico(a),

A primeira edição do São Paulo Breast Surgery Symposium, organizado pelo Instituto

Brasileiro de Controle do Câncer (IBCC), em parceria com o Departamento de Cirurgia

Plástica da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), surgiu da

necessidade de o Brasil promover eventos voltados exclusivamente para cirurgias mamárias.

Avaliamos ser de suma importância realizar um encontro, com um faculty selecionado,

composto por 9 estrangeiros e 18 brasileiros – nomes expoentes da Cirurgia Plástica mamária

de diversos países, como Estados Unidos, Itália, França e Bélgica e também referências

nacionais – que apresentarão, durante dois dias, um conteúdo com alto nível científico.

Cada profissional relatará sua experiência e as mais modernas técnicas desenvolvidas para

cirurgia estética e reparadora na atualidade.

Já é possível perceber que teremos grande sucesso com o Symposium e nosso objetivo é que

o acontecimento entre para o calendário anual de eventos científicos no Brasil.

Dear plastic surgeon,

The first edition of São Paulo Breast Surgery Symposium, organized by IBCC - Brazilian Institute

for Cancer Control, in partnership with the Department of Plastic Surgery, Medical School,

FMUSP - University of São Paulo, arose from the need for Brazil to promote events geared

exclusively to breast surgeries.

We consider of utmost importance to hold a meeting with a selected faculty, composed of nine

foreign guests and 18 Brazilian specialists – renowned names of Breast Plastic Surgery from

various countries such as United States, Italy, France and Belgium, as well as national references –

that will feature for two days a high level scientific content.

Each professional will report his or her experience and the most modern techniques developed for

aesthetic and reconstructive surgery today.

Already you can see that we will have great success with the Symposium and our goal is to insert

the event in the annual calendar of scientific events in Brazil.

Sobre o Instituto Brasileiro

de Controle do Câncer (IBCC

)

Instituto Brasileiro de Controle do Câncer (IBCC) foi fundado em maio de 1968, pelo prof. dr. João Sampaio Góes Jr. e seu filho, prof. dr. João Carlos Sampaio Góes.

Em 1971, os fundadores do hospital trouxeram o primeiro mamógrafo para o Brasil. Este equipamento fazia parte da primeira série fabricada no mundo.

Com a chegada da campanha O Câncer de Mama no Alvo da Moda, em 1995, o IBCC pode crescer até chegar a sua fase atual. Os recursos advindos da Campanha permitiram ao hospital qualificar o atendimento aos seus pacientes. Muitas obras de expansão foram realizadas, equipamentos adquiridos e especialidades oncológicas ampliadas. Um novo hospital, mas sempre em busca de sua missão: o atendimento humanizado e com qualidade.

Com área construída de 25 mil m² e 180 leitos, hoje o IBCC atende a 10 especialidades médicas, além de toda infraestrutura para diagnóstico, tratamento oncológico e Cirurgia Plástica. Possui 33 consultórios médicos, 10 salas de Centro Cirúrgico e três salas de Centro Cirúrgico Ambulatorial, 10 leitos de UTI e Pronto-atendimento.

No campo da pesquisa o IBCC também faz história, por meio de seu Centro de Estudos, que possui, em média, 25 pesquisas em andamento por ano, em parceria com universidades e laboratórios. Essas pesquisas buscam o desenvolvimento de novas drogas e o aprimoramento de técnicas de cirurgias e de tratamento para o câncer.

Cirurgia Plástica

da Universidade de São Paulo (USP)

A Disciplina de Cirurgia Plástica do Departamento de Cirurgia da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), chefiada pelo prof. dr. Rolf Gemperli, contempla todas as subespecialidades da Cirurgia Plástica. Dentre elas figura a Reconstrução Mamária, uma das mais importantes e com forte atuação tanto na formação dos residentes e estagiários, quanto no desenvolvimento de pesquisas.

Atualmente existe um intercâmbio entre o Serviço de Cirurgia Plástica do Hospital das Clínicas da FMUSP com o Instituto Brasileiro de Controle do Câncer (IBCC) na área de pesquisa, por meio de estudo prospectivo, randomizado, duplo cego, em reconstrução mamária – parceria esta que irá determinar, nos próximos anos, as condutas mais adequadas para reconstrução em alguns tipos de tumores.

O São Paulo Breast Surgery Symposium é uma das etapas deste intercâmbio. Este acordo de cooperação entre as duas instituições demonstra uma nova etapa de gestão, com a abertura de nossa instituição para se unir a outras importantes entidades, que irão beneficiar em última instância as pacientes portadoras de câncer de mama.

About IBCC – Brazilian Institute for Cancer Control IBCC - Brazilian Institute for Cancer Control was founded in May 1968 by Prof. Dr. João Sampaio Góes Jr. and his son, Prof. Dr. João Carlos Sampaio Góes. In 1971, the founders of the hospital brought the first mammography machine to Brazil. This equipment was part of the first series manufactured in the world. With the arrival of the campaign Breast Cancer in Fashion Target, in 1995, IBCC could grow to reach its current stage. Resources from the campaign allowed the hospital to improve care for the patients. Many expansion works were carried out, equipment was purchased and oncologic specialties expanded. A new hospital, but always in pursuit of its mission: quality humanized care. In a constructed area of 25 thousand sq. m. and 180 beds, IBCC now serves 10 medical specialties and has the entire infrastructure for diagnosis, oncologic treatment and plastic surgery. Plastic Surgery of USP – University of São Paulo The Discipline of Plastic Surgery of the Department of Surgery, Medical School, FMUSP - University of São Paulo, headed by Prof. Dr. Rolf Gemperli, includes all subspecialties of Plastic Surgery. Among them, Breast Reconstruction is one of the strongest and most important specialties in performance, both in training residents and interns as to research development. Currently, there is a research exchange between the Plastic Surgery Service of Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP and IBCC - Brazilian Institute for Cancer Control by means of prospective, randomized, double-blind trials in breast reconstruction. In the coming years, this partnership will determine more adequate approaches in some types of tumors and breast reconstruction.

São Paulo Breast Surgery Symposium is one step in this exchange. This cooperation agreement between the two institutions demonstrates a new stage in management, with the opening of our institution to join other major entities, which will ultimately benefit the breast cancer patients.
