VOTES

THE 3rd DIRECTING COUNCIL,

RENDERS, at the suggestion of the Peruvian Delegation, unanimously seconded by all the other

Delegations, sincere homage to the memory of the Director Emeritus of the Pan American Sanitary

Bureau, General Hugh S. Cumming, who died on 20 December 1948. General Cumming's death

marked the passing of the pre-eminent figure of his generation in international health agencies.

RENDERS HOMAGE to the memory of its Honorary Member, Dr. Luis Gaitán, whose demise

occurred in Guatemala on 21 July 1949. Upon his death, the Pan American Sanitary Bureau lost the

first of its honorary members and one of its most sincere and devoted friends.
