11.2. Implicações Clínicas
Uma das implicações clínicas da presente investigação, que conjugou a psicologia com a arte de representar, passa pelo reconhecimento, a indução, a expressão e a regulação das emoções, através da respiração das expressões corporal e facial, proposta pelo método físico Alba Emoting® (Bloch, 1993). As seis emoções básicas com que trabalha são o medo, a raiva, a alegria, a tristeza, a ternura (e.g., amor fraternal) e o erotismo (sexual). Este método pode, igualmente, ser utilizado em psicoterapia, consciencializando, regulando e transformando as emoções, de forma a ajudar o terapeuta a reconhecer as suas emoções e as do paciente (Kalawski, 2011).
Embora Aristóteles afirmasse a catarse individual como o desígnio dramático da tragédia (Malpede, 1999), “estamos a representar, não a fazer terapia!” (Barton, 1994, p. 105). Segundo o autor, esta frase, repetida numa aula de teatro, reflecte a recusa do aluno em lidar com o desconforto emergente do próprio processo criativo, ou a falha em reconhecer a componente de crescimento pessoal do treino do actor.
Outro tema que deverá ser levado em linha de conta é a de jovens que enveredam pela carreira de actor pela necessidade de exorcizar problemáticas emocionais, numa espécie de catarse (psicodrama). Este tipo de situações deverá ser detectado tão precocemente quanto possível para não se compactuar com falsas expectativas e “pseudo-futuros” profissionais. Por todas estas razões, o professor deve ter formação específica nas estratégias de regulação emocional a adoptar.
Paralelamente, parece-nos fundamental a presença de um psicólogo clínico no âmbito das escolas e cursos onde se ensina a arte de representar, uma vez que é uma profissão altamente relacionada com a gestão emocional e onde a evidência científica aponta para alguma vulnerabilidade, potencialmente conducente ao desgaste emocional. Como já foi dito, uma regulação emocional desadaptativa, ou pouco eficaz, é a causa de muitas perturbações emocionais.

Wilson (1991) colocou duas questões: o que é que a psicologia, pode oferecer aos actores para ultrapassarem as suas dificuldades e aperfeiçoar a sua arte; e o que é que o processo teatral (criação de uma personagem) tem a dizer à psicologia sobre a natureza humana. Os resultados dos dois estudos efectuados na presente tese corroboram a resposta: a contribuição entre as duas artes pode ser reciproca.
“Se a terapia pode ajudar a transformar a vítima num sobrevivente, o processo teatral pode ajudar a transformar um sobrevivente num criador” (Malpede, 1999, p. 316).
