Objetivos gerais do ciclo de estudos

The academic component of the Master's program in Military Aeronautics, in the specialty of Aircraft Pilot, consists of a wide range of subject areas both within the fields of Aeronautics and Electrical Engineering, as well as Economics and Management. Internships are supervised by officers who specialize in the same field as the courses the students attend and take place in dedicated flight training units in either the Portuguese Air Force or the Brazilian Air Force. The responsibilities of the course director are: to follow the students' academic activities; to provide supervision and support; listening to them frequently to identify likely causes of academic underachievement and suggest solutions to the problems discovered; to supervise the teaching and contribute to the discovery and correction of any deficiencies; to take measures to prevent students' attendance record from falling below prescribed limits; to participate in the assessment of the military merits of students and in course council meetings and, if necessary, to propose special meetings; to propose changes to the education when it is justified, and to coordinate and guide the special education. The Welcome Committee, composed of fourth-year students, is also responsible for the integration of students into the academic community.

After collecting information on student satisfaction, GAQ performs statistical analysis of the data and presents its conclusions to the command for further analysis and the adoption of any measures necessary for.

Sendo uma unidade curricular fundamentalmente assente nos suportes legais que definem a Defesa Nacional e a estrutura das Forças Armadas e da GNR, a utilização do método expositivo para a totalidade dos conteúdos poderá ser um fator a contribuir para o crescente desinteresse dos alunos, pelo que se entende como realização de trabalhos práticos e exposição dos seus resultados através de simpósios, onde os alunos são o mais importante. Resultados

Comparison of academic success in the different academic areas of the program of study and related curricular units. Last year, 7 students took exams in the first semester (5 courses), and 5 students in the second semester (4 courses), but only one student failed one course at the end of the year. The follow-up of academic performance takes place in two phases: the mid-semester meetings of the training council and the pedagogical council at the end of the academic year.

Depending on the seriousness of the situation, the proposed solutions may be presented for analysis by the pedagogical council. The pedagogic council convened at the end of the academic year hears the reports of the students' academic achievements, after these have been analyzed and the measures to be taken next year have been drawn up. CIAFA's policy has been to focus primarily on the scientific, technological and operational aspects as well as the doctrine of the use of Unmanned Autonomous Aerial Systems (UAS) with a view to its civil and military applications.

The projects to be carried out as R&D activities are consistent with the needs of the organization and the spirit of the new national defense strategy and involve the Defense Technological and Industrial Network (BTID) and the National Science and Technology System (SCTN). Within its R&D activities, CIAFA has been involved in the technological transfer processes of Class-I (25 kg) and Class-II (approx. 500 kg) UAS in cooperation with representatives of BTID and SCTN for their industrial development in Portugal and later marketing at a national and possibly even international level. Most activities are externally funded projects carried out in national and international partnership with prestigious organizations on the basis of reciprocity and complementarity, namely those comprising the SCTN network - Instituto Superior Técnico, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto de Telecomunicações, Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil, Centro para a Excelência e Inovação na Industria Automóvel, Instituto Geográfico do Exército and Instituto Hidrográfico; The BTID network -Critical- Software, Uavision, EDP-Inovação and Optimal; and international institutions – University of California at Berkeley, University of Salzburg, University of Munich, University of Delft and University of Warsaw.
