FINAL REPORT

The 69th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pan American

Health Organization was held in the "Gabriela Mistral" Cultural Center

in Santiago, Chile, on 13 October 1972, as convened by the Director of

the Pan American Sanitary Bureau. The following members of the Committee

and observers attended the single plenary session:

OPENING OF THE MEETING

Dr. Hugo Victorino Alqueres Baptista (Brazil), Vice-Chairman of the

Committee, in his capacity as Chairman pro tempore, opened the meeting and

welcomed the Representatives of Haiti, Mexico, and Panama, elected by the

XXI Meeting of the Directing Council to the Executive Committee on the

ex-piry of the terms of office of Guyana, Peru and Venezuela.

OFFICERS

At the proposal of the Representative of the United States of

America, seconded by the Representatives of Canada and Haiti, Dr. Hugo

Victorino Alqueres Baptista, Representative of Brazil, was unanimously

elected Chairman of the Executive Committee.

Also at the proposal of the Representatives of Canada and Haiti

Dr. Danilo Vel_zquez, Representative of Honduras, was unanimously elected

Vice-Chairman, and Dr. S. Paul Ehrlich, Jr., Representative of the United

DECISIONS

In the course of the meeting the Committee took the following

decisions:

1. In accordance with the rules governing the award of the PAHO Award

for Administration, the Chairman appointed the Representatives of Haiti and

E1 Salvador to fill the vacancies on the Award Committee that had occurred

on the expiry of the terms of office of Peru and Venezuela as members of

the Executive Committee.

2. It was decided to take note of the resolutions of interest to the

Executive Committee approved by the XXI Meeting of the Directing Council

of PAl{O, XXIV Meeting of the Regional Committee of WHO for the Americas.

3. It was agreed that the 70th Meeting of the Executive Committee

would be held in July 1973, and the Director was authorized to fix the

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Chairman of the Executive Committee and

the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau, Secretary ex officio,

sign the present Final Report in the English and the Spanish languages,

both texts being equally authentic.

DONE in Santiago, Chile, this thirteenth day of October nineteen

hundred and seventy-two. The Secretary shall deposit the original text

in the archives of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau and shall send copies

thereof to the Governments of the Organization.
