ADOPTION OF THE RULES OF PROCEDURE OF THE PAN AF_RICAN SANITARY CONFERENCE
In compliance with Resolutions XXX and XXXIV of the XV Pan American Sanitary Conference, the Executive Committee at its 36th Meeting held in October 1958 established a Subcommittee to study the basic documents of the Pan American Health Organization.
Pursuant to Resolution VIII of the 43rd Meeting of the Executive Committee, the English and Spanish texts of the Constitution, and of the
Rules of Procedure of the Conference_ the Directing Council, and the Executive Committee, which had been prepared by the Subcommittee, were
submitted to the Governments of the Organization in July 1961 for study and comment.
The comments received from the Governments were examined by the Subcommittee on Basic Documents and presented to the 44th Meeting of the Executive Committee which, in Resolution II, recommended that the Directing Council adopt the revisions of the basic documents proposed by the
Subcommittee and modified by it in the light of the comments made by the _ Governments.
_. By Resolution XXXVII of its XIII Meeting, the Directing Council adopted the revisions to the Constitution and to the Rules of Procedure of
the Council, proposed by the Subcommittee, together with the modifications introduced into those documents by the Subcommittee itself and by a working party appointed by the Council to examine the comments of the Governments.
In paragraph 6 of the operative part of that resolution, the Council resolved: "To recommend to the XVI Pa_American Sanitary Conference
that it adopt the revisions in the Rules of Procedure of the Sanitary Conference proposed by the Subcommittee_ as further

The revised text of the Rules of Procedure of the Pan American
Sanitary Conference as "further modified", which is referred to in Resolution XXXVII of the XIII Meeting of the Directing Council, is given below.
The Rules of Procedure of the XV Pan American Sanitary Conference appears in parallel columns side by side with the proposed new text in orderto facilitatestudy.
