T h e e v o l u t i v e p a t t e r n o f S c h i s t o s o m i a s is a l t h o u g h n o t w e ll k n o w n s e e m s t o d e - p e n d o n t h e i n t e n s i t y o f t h e i n f e c t i o n (3 ,8 ) a n d o n t h e h o s t r e a c t i o n t o i t ( 1 ) . D i f f e r e n t b e h a v i o u r s o f d i f f e r e n t “ s t r a i n s ” c o u l d g iv e a g o o d e x p l a n a t i o n f o r t h e i n d i v i d u a l p a t t e r n o f t h e d i s e a s e a s s h o w e d i n e x p e r i m e n t a l s t u d y ( 9 ) , ta u t s o m e fe p i- d e m i o l o g i c a l o b s e r v a t i o n s (2 , 4 , 6, 7 ) d o n o t e n t i r e l y s u p p o r t t h i s p o s s i b i l i t y .
